Back to school isn't just for the kids! Why not come and learn something new this September? Our 'seasonal seedheads' workshop is an ideal introduction to the art and craft of lino printing. Perfect for beginners with no previous experience required. We will be designing, carving and printing a one-colour lino print based on wild grasses, poppy heads, aliums, dried flowers, honesty, cow parsley, Chinese lanterns and other interesting plant forms. In this welcoming and friendly workshop, learn this absorbing craft as you explore: - The materials and equipment required to create your very own Lino print. - The basic principles and terminology of printmaking. - Test out your mark-marking with the tolls and equipment. - Learn what makes a successful first lino print design. - Create a unique design based on what you have learnt. - Carve, ink and print your chosen design. This session is suitable for beginners and those with some prior experience. Our designs for this workshop will be based on Autumnal plant forms, such as seed heads, leaves and pine cones. These will work best if kept best if kept relatively simple! Bring along any photos, sketches, or digital images that you would like to use for inspiration. There will also be some materials in the workshops you can use for inspiration on the day. Our workshop runs from 4pm to 8pm and is suitable for 16 +. Places are limited to 6 participants to ensure that all members have plenty of 1:1 tuition and guidance on the day. You will be with a very experienced tutor - I spent 17 years teaching Art and Design in FE colleges. We will be using printing inks which may stain clothing. Please wear old clothes and bring an apron! There is free on street parking near the venue on Windsor avenue, adjacent to the entrance to Windsor Park. Your session will be led by Sue, a tutor of 20+ experience. The group is limited to 6 spaces, to ensure that you receive the 1:1 tuition that you need to produce work you can be proud of! This workshop is aimed at beginners and those with some prior experience.
