Description
On this fun, festive workshop you will explore basic principles of lino printing, and develop a suitable simple Christmas card design to carve and print. You will print a set of Christmas cards using the skills you have learnt. Optionally, you can also explore ways to further embellish these cards if required. Then take home your finished cards and envelopes ready to write and post! Our designs for this workshop will be based on decorative Christmas imagery. Think snowflake patterns, Christmas plants such as holly, ivy, mistletoe and other berries, Christmas trees, baubles and stars. A set of suggested motifs which you can mix and match will be provided. You are welcome to bring along any photos, sketches, or existing Christmas cards that you would like to use as inspiration. Our course runs from 10am to 2pm and is suitable for ages 16+. This workshop is aimed at beginner lino printers and those with some previous experience. The cost of the course includes all materials. Places are limited to 8 participants to ensure that all members have plenty of 1:1 tuition and guidance on the day. You will be with a very experienced tutor - I spent 17 years teaching Art and Design in FE colleges. Tea and coffee, squash and herbal tea will be available, as well as biscuits. There may even be a mince pie or two! Please stipulate if you have any dietary requirements when booking, and let me know via the 'message the tutor'. We will be using printing inks which may stain clothing. Please wear old clothes and bring an apron!

All equipment and materials you will need are included in the course. You will get your set of cards, with envelopes to take home, as well as your carved lino, in case you want to print even more! There are refreshments provided.
