Description
Welcome to our bag sewing workshop! Whether you’re just starting to sew or you’ve been stitching for years, this workshop is the perfect place to learn, create, and have a great time. Making your own bag is not only useful but also lots of fun—and a wonderful way to show off your personality and creativity. By the end of the day, you’ll have a one-of-a-kind bag to take home and plenty of new sewing skills to use in the future. There will be several patterns for you to choose from and we will send you a list of those and material choices once you book on. Duration: One full day —enough time to relax and enjoy the process! Skill Level: Open to everyone, from beginners to seasoned sewists. Materials provided: We’ve got you covered with, threads, machines, patterns, zippers, buttons, notions and fun embellishments. Takeaway: Every participant leaves with their very own finished bag, made with pride. Welcome and inspiration: We’ll start by introducing ourselves and sharing what we hope to make and learn. You’ll get to see a collection of handmade bags to spark ideas and help you get excited for your own project. Tools and Materials: Get hands-on with the fabrics, linings, and fun extras we have on hand. Don’t worry if you’re not sure what to pick—your instructor is here to help you find just the right materials for your project. Pattern Preparation: We’ll guide you step by step through reading your pattern and getting your fabric ready. You’ll quickly see how easy it is to prepare for sewing with a little friendly support! Bag Construction: Now the fun really begins! With your instructor cheering you on, you’ll sew your bag together, one piece at a time. We’ll keep things easy to follow and make sure everyone’s having a good time, no matter their experience level. Personalisation and Embellishment: This is your chance to make your bag truly yours! Add patches, colourful stitching, buttons, or anything else you fancy. We’ll help you brainstorm and bring your ideas to life. Finishing and Presentation: Once your bag is finished, we’ll show you how to tidy it up for a polished look. This workshop takes place in our Sewing School. We have brand new Janome sewing machines for you to use, overlocker, plus all the other tools, equipment and sewing ‘notions’. Sue Cotten will be your teacher: “Sue Cotten is a life-long maker of anything creative with particular interest in textiles, sewing, paper crafting and a prolific hoarder of ‘stash’! Sue is a fun teacher with a wealth of skills, tips and tricks she loves to share. Everyday is a school day in Sue’s classes. Sue works with various brands, demoing and teaching at The Festival of Quilts and all the major Sewing Events.” We have sewing machines you can use, but if you prefer to bring your own you are very welcome to. This workshop takes place upstairs in our new sewing school and I’m afraid we do not have a lift. We do have a toilet and refreshment station upstairs.
