Maker's bio

Alice Hume is a Textile Artist based at Portsmouth Museum & Art Gallery. In 2013 she graduated from Winchester School of Art with a degree in Woven Textile Design. Vanderhume comes from her ancestry of Flemish Weavers. Alice pushes the boundaries of weaving and uses unusual materials of copper yarn and raffia on her 8-shaft Harris Loom. After Graduating Alice and her father collaborated to make handmade frame looms called Hume Looms from recycled wood which she uses to teach weave workshops.

"I really enjoyed Alice’s pot hanging workshop. It was a small group of us and it worked really well. Very therapeutic craft and Alice was welcoming and a very patient and friendly teacher. We had a great morning, I would highly recommend. I was really pleased with my finished product too and inspired to make more! "
