Maker's bio

Alice Hume is a Textile Artist based at Portsmouth Museum & Art Gallery. In 2013 she graduated from Winchester School of Art with a degree in Woven Textile Design. Vanderhume comes from her ancestry of Flemish Weavers. Alice pushes the boundaries of weaving and uses unusual materials of copper yarn and raffia on her 8-shaft Harris Loom. After Graduating Alice and her father collaborated to make handmade frame looms called Hume Looms from recycled wood which she uses to teach weave workshops.

"I can thoroughly recommend a course with Alice, she is patient, excellent at explaining and passing on the information. I enjoyed a shorter course making a macrame pot hanger so thought I'd give the longer weaving introduction session a go. A great day, the time flew by and I'm now hooked on tapestry weaving!
