"This was a really lovely two days at Hanbury Hall. My wife bought this for me as a birthday present, so I didn't really have any agenda, just enjoyed getting lost in the wood carving experience. I had never done this before, but Geraint was a knowledgeable and sympathetic tutor, and guided us through the course. I managed to produce a passable result, if not up to Michelangelo or Bernini standard. Geraint suggested I burn it afterwards (a finishing technique not a comment on my work!) which has given it a very nice look. Will need a few months for my fingers and back to go back to normal I expect, (despite plenty of coffee and lunch breaks) but well worth the effort!"

"This course was even better than I hoped it would be. The expert help from the teacher was clear and tailored to my needs. There was a great balance of advice and leaving us to try out what we were learning about. Very happy with the finished product. Could not have enjoyed it more! ...the outside classroom was beautiful and perfect lighting too! 5 stars without a doubt."

"Well run course with good content and catered for all abilities. There was however no mention that the course was upstairs, with the toilet downstairs. Several of us were of a certain age with some mobility issues. It would be sensible to mention that the venue was not suitable for those with a mobility disability."

"Spent a really enjoyable - but intensive - couple of days carving a beautiful owl out of portland stone under the guidance of Miranda. The class was just the right size for Miranda to give each of us attention & assistance when we needed it & it was lovely to be working out in the fresh air (even under the gazebo when it was raining!). Middleton Hall is a gorgeous, quirky location - I'm looking forward to visiting just to take a proper look around."

"As a beginner, the woodcarving course was excellent. Geraint is a very patient tutor with an excellent knowledge and way of passing on this knowledge. At times I was unsure if I would finish my project but I did with 15 minutes to spare! Middleton Hall is a lovely location, and it was idyllic working on the lawn in the sun. I have already signed up for the newsletter for next year’s class dates! Thank you for a most enjoyable weekend - now to buy some more tools 😊"
