"I was unsure what to expect as first, but the course was brilliant. The greeting was warm and friendly. When everyone arrived we were equipped with safety gear and given a short introduction to safety in the forge. Then we were into making the first item. Adrian gave an introduction to the techniques and steps needed to start and off you go. The staff are always on hand, attentive and willing to gently guide you with the current process. What seemed daunting at the start, faded into easy to replicate steps and I now have a snail key fob and a dragon coat rack. It's a superb course, with friendly people and you make something that initially seems out of reach given your inexperience. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who's thinking about it. Physical strength not needed but it can get a touch warm around the furnaces."

"An absolutely great day from start to finish. We weren't sure what to expect as first timers but after a welcoming cup of tea and homemade biscuit we were thrown straight into the fire! Aiden and Andy were great mentors, super friendly, very patient and encouraging. Deborah's food was delicious and kept us well fed all day. Safe to say we all came away feeling very pleased with the hooks and keyrings we had made. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back."

"A good days work and learning. I arrived 10 minutes late which was annoying as I had driven past the place 20 mins earlier, perhaps a sign outside the entrance on course days might be an idea? Sat nav not much use! Adrian is obviously a highly skilled blacksmith and made the demos look so easy. I struggled a bit at times and would have liked perhaps some advice as to whether I was doing it right or not. I persevered and ended up with a key ring that doesn't look too bad but my coat hook bears no resemblance to a dragon, looks more like a hippo. Very tasty food and an interesting day"

"Thank you for a lovely day. The atmosphere was relaxed and calm. It started with a brew and biscuits, brief intro and the best and shortest safety talk I have had. The demonstrations were quick and broken down into simple processes then off to the anvils and fires to get started. It was a no fuss well timed series of exercises. Support always on hand with tips and hints to keep you on track. We became a chatty group over a fabulous lunch that catered for even the biggest appetites. The techniques were repeated in the afternoon to make larger products building on our prior knowledge. Finishing with a lovely brew and huge slabs of cake. Definitely recommend."

"The two instructors were very good and equally patient. The tools and all equipment plentiful. What a wonderful lunch too. It was a very nice 71st birthday present. Although the rest of the participants were considerably younger."

"I have recently been on this course, Well what can I say, It was amazing, I enjoyed every moment of my experience, what a great gift! It’s so much better than getting a jumper for Christmas! The guys were brilliant, chilled and supportive. Even when my dragon coat hook looks more like a dinosaur! ? My little boy loves it! I will be booking again soon. I must add the food and company ( the other participants) were great too! Thank you so much! Adrian, Andy and Debbie"

"An Excellent course, learnt a great deal, left after making two items which I would never have believed I could at the start of the day. One word of warning if you're on a diet you'll need to have lots of self control as the meal was very nice with very large portions."

"Today I spent the day learning a bit about the heritage craft of blacksmithing - it was hard graft - but I turned a steel rod in to a trendy keyring and a steel bar in to a dragon (well, a coat hook). I didn’t think I would be able to manage it, with my lack of coordination and upper body strength, but with a little help from Ade and Andy, who were amazing teachers, I totally nailed it! Or, should I say, riveted it… l highly recommend checking out the courses, but be quick they get full fast! Food was lovely too thanks to Debbie - I am still stuffed after coffee and flapjack, then a lunch of chilli, jacket potato, breads from a local bakers, cheese from a local cheese shop, cake and custard - and then, as if that wasn’t enough, cake and tea before we left for home!"

"An amazing experience from start to finish. A warmbwelcome by Diane and delicious flapjack. Great tuition from Adrian and Andy, especially as I had never done this before they were encouraging and made it fool proof. The lunch was delicious and a great time to get to know the group. I would definately recommend booking on and having ago. It was well worth the journey, I came away feeling inspired and and thatbi had achieved something. Thank you all, I would love to return."

"Really enjoyed the day - this was bought as a Christmas present after I expressed an interest in learning more about blacksmithing and I'm hooked! Adrian and Andy were really good and helpful explaining what we were there to make, and showing us step by step through the process - I never thought I would be capable of producing items that looked so good as a beginner! the pace of the day is perfect, at no point do you feel rushed and help and advice is always on hand (as is first aid if you manage to burn yourself like I did - turns out red hot metal burns if you touch it who knew?) I will definitely be booking on to more courses in the future!"

"Absolutely amazing - a really relaxed, hands on course supported by a fantastic team. Well led, well fed and we all finished the day with a sense of accomplishment and our own handmade items to take home. A great course to learn the basics at your own pace, I will definitely be returning for some of the other courses. If you’ve always wondered what it would be like to move metal I can’t think of a better group of people to learn from! Thank you"

"A great day learning about blacksmithing. Adrian Andy and Debbie made us feel very welcome starting with a chat, coffee and flapjack. The practical part of the course was pitched perfectly. Adrian gave us demonstrations of what we were to do then we all had a go at our own pace with plenty of help and advice when needed. We all achieved a lot and learned a lot about the art of blacksmithing. I would highly recommend the day and I will definitely book onto another course to learn more in the near future."

"This was an excellent course and was great fun. Delightfully hands on, and the required theory was brief yet highly engaging. I walked away with two handcrafted items with my own creative touch and a new set of skills that I look forwards applying again with confidence. The food was also topnotch."

"Absolutely amazing course, what a blast! I arrived to a cheery welcome with mugs of tea/coffee and homemade treats and a chance to meet Debbie, Adrian and Andy - what a fab trio. The day was perfect - coffee and tea on tap and an incredible lunchtime spread of delicious homemade fare. Adrian is a superb teacher instilling a can-do attitude with well-paced instruction with boards showing the step by step construction stages for you to consult. Both Adrian and Andy were constantly on hand for support and advice and provided a relaxed and calm environment for learning and at no point did I feel out of my depth. I suggested the course should be prescribed on the NHS for mental health problems as the day fluctuated between periods of meditative contemplation, staring into the mesmerising glow of the furnace to complete hilarity at the non-stop banter between Adrian and Andy. I also recommend taking time out to chat to Adrian about his incredible metalwork creations, absolutely stunning! I can't wait for the Design and Make weekend................dreaming of being a blacksmith!"

"Brilliant experience, loved every minute of it. I make a lot of stuff and every craft has its own set of techniques and skills - no different here. The guys explained the techniques in an easy to understand manner and were always on hand to help if you went slightly adrift. Great hosts, great craic and great food I'll definitely be bac"
