"Fabulous day at Andy and Ade's blacksmiths on Saturday 1st April. It was a fantastic experience. We made a key ring and a Dragon coat hanger. The instruction and support throughout is exceptional. So don't be worried about attending if you haven't done anything like this before. Debbie provided a hearty lunch and afternoon cakes which were delicious and not expected. It also made it a social event getting to know the other attendees. There were also some delicious atrisan cheeses. I am coeliac and Debbie was very sympathetic and made everything gluten free. Thank you for a great day "

"A thoroughly enjoyable and well managed day that was hosted by excellent and very friendly teachers and caterers. Much to our surprise, we both succeeded in producing two metal flowers each that we'll be proud to 'plant' in our garden. We can thoroughly recommend the course to any beginner and would like to thank the whole team for making this possible."

"A cold wet day but once the forge fires got in to action and a cuppa was on offer, the charisma amongst attendees began to flow. We started off by heating and scrolling metal rod into a key ring which got us used to that initial side of the process. Adrian demonstrated with ease to begin with and soon I realised he was a pure professional, completing this small task in just a few minutes. This task however took us ‘newbies’ most of the morning to complete under Adrian and Andy's guidance. Following a wonderful lunch prepared by Debbie, we returned to work for the afternoon. Our next task was to make a dragon headed coat rail bearing three scrolled hooks. Again, Adrian demonstrated proficiently making the task look simple. The processes from the previous task soon came into play for me, I really felt like I knew what I was doing this time so the guidance in the first task must have been very good! We were heating, hammering, chiselling in order to cut hot metal and using punches to create the detailing, whilst being in charge of our fires, keeping them stoked, that heat was lovely aaah!!! Although the coat rail was a bigger task than the key ring, it seemed to evolve quicker, at that point I began to realise that I was learning fast under their guidance. At the end of the day, I was pleased with the items that I had produced and overall, I can say I had a fantastic experience. The group setting was good, everyone was interested in helping each other and it all flowed very well. Adrian and Andy were happy to show and discuss the creative methods of their current projects and had no problem with people taking photos of tools and equipment inside the forge. A great day delivered by a fantastic team and would recommend that every beginner should attend. James. "

"I have been so many times I should live there! I have done all the courses they do. What you make can be a gift. Great day there, lovely food, all hand made and the cakes too. You just want to keep going. Nice tea and coffee. They know their stuff - all the dos and don'ts of this craft. They are there to help you get what you want out of it. He has been in this business a long long time. They know how to fix stuff on the fly if you do something the wrong way, or if you get too much heat and your work snaps off. They helpfully guide you onto the right path and show you step by step what you need to do. It's a safe place and, depending where you are from, it's fine to get to. Try this one thing in your life! You never know, you might love it and get one at home yourself if you've got space for it. Life goes so fast and you need live it. This is one the of best on here or even the top 1! If you like making things with your hands and hitting metal, seeing it transform in front your eyes, you will love, love this. All are great at talking to you. It's a very understanding place. "

Stuart Littledyke reviewed: Blacksmithing course: blacksmith tool making day

"Well, where do I start. Ok, 2nd course myself and my son have been on. Start of the day was Tea/Coffee biscuits etc. Chat with everyone on the course, Adrian and Andy. This one was tool making. We made a pair of tongs and a steel punch (each) now you’d think that’s a quick job. No,,,, I couldn’t believe how much work was involved. Lots of heating, beating and shaping. Adrian takes you through the process in stages, nice and steady so it’s clear. While you're working, Adrian and Andy are at hand to refresh your memory, give help and advice and pass on their knowledge and expertise. Both Adrian and Andy are top notch at Blacksmithing, you're surrounded by their amazing work in progress and they're happy to chat about it. Be prepared to get dirty and warm if you decide to go, your loss if you don’t have lunch,,, prepared, cooked and served by Debbie. Oh and what a lunch, plenty to go round, all home made (including the breads) and it’s amazing. Yea/coffee as much as you like. Pudding, all homemade and is to die for. Back to it and an enjoyable afternoon beating the steel, chatting and joking. Don’t worry if you have no one to go with, you soon make friends in the forge. Now we ran over time wise, but we kept going until everyone had finished, then drinks, homemade buns and cake. Debbie, you're a star, again amazing grub. Adrian, you're a lucky man. Great atmosphere, good food, brilliant instructions, plenty of help and advice, friendly/professional instructors. Just looking to book the next course now. For what you get, it’s a cheap day out. Thank you everyone, see you soon. "

Be prepared for some of the tastiest homemade/local food, which will help energise you for your day of hammering. I am so glad that I did it, and would recommend it to anyone else without hesitation.
