"My blacksmithing day was the result of a surprise birthday present from my son and daughter. I had a terrific time being taught how to make a scroll key ring and dragon coat hook by Adrian and the irrepressible Andy whose sense of humour kept us all amused the whole day. Frankly, I've never know a day fly-by so quickly. Food and drink was served all day including a lovely hot meal at mid day by Debbie. Thank you all very much for such a great day . Martin P.S. location of the course is Lat/Long N54.45371° W1.44391°"

"Fantastic day. Warmly welcomed by Debbie, Adrian and Andy. Extremely relaxed environment, great food and fantastic instruction throughout the day. Only made better by the great group of participants. One old tradesman and one slightly older tradesman learned some great new skills."

"An unexpected fathers day gift - I am not known as a DIYer or handyman, in fact quite the reverse, but I really enjoyed this course and far exceeded my expectations in terms of what I was able to achieve. My ramshead poker is proudly displayed in our fireplace and will bring back memories of a great day for many years to come."

"This course was a inspired birthday gift from my wife. The wait since July has been torture. A warm welcome by Debbie, Adrian and Andy put everyone at ease and I could not stop smiling all day. I was tutored and guided to produce something that was totally unexpected (a Rams head fire poker) and it is now in pride of place within my fire place. Adrian, I believe, gets as much pleasure from watching our"

"This was our second course with Adrian and Andy as we had enjoyed the first so much. This time we made a fire poker (me) and a toasting fork (Chris) and we're thrilled with them. Both Adrian & Andy are incredibly skilled and patient, taking you through what you'll be creating step by step and helping out when necessary. Debbie provides delicious home made lunch, dessert and cake to finish off the day. Despite being with 6 different people each time there was still a brilliant atmosphere which is all down to Adrian, Debbie and Andy. They are all so easy to talk to and make the day so enjoyable. I guarantee one course won't be enough, we'll be back for our third go!!"

"An excellent day! We were given a warm welcome by Debbie, Adrian and Andy on arrival and after a nice cup of coffee and homemade biscuits, Adrian gave us a demonstration of the key ring we would be making. I did have a moment of "wow, I'll never be able to do that" but, with the excellent Andy and Adrian on hand to advise, we both surprised ourselves and were really proud of our creations. In the afternoon we made dragon coatracks, which again, we couldn't believe how well they turned out. It was a lot of fun, quite hard work, but also a really positive experience of feeling like we'd achieved something. As an added bonus, the home cooked lunch provided by Debbie was exceptionally good. The homemade cake at tea time was equally as delicious. We will definitely be back for more courses. Would recommend to anyone looking to do something a little bit different."

"This was a surprise Fathers Day present, something I have wanted to do for decades.. I was greeted by Adrian, Andy and Debbie, with tea/coffee and great biscuits.. The course was perfect for anyone.. when you start trying things yourself, you just realise how good blacksmiths really are.. I can't really say anything different to all the other reviews.. Just get yourselves booked on the next available one.. I haven't stopped grinning from ear to ear since doing it. The homemade food an puddings for lunch was amazing (Thanks Debbie) and the cake after we finished was wonderful.. Did I say Book a course now.. ? yes.. well do it then.. I will be again.."

"My grand son and I appreciated the warm welcome from Adrian and Debbie and the initial very important cup of tea to start the day After the health ad safety briefing Adrian demonstrated how to make a key ring and we got stuck in our selves. Lunch next which was greatly apprecialted and of exceptionally high quality. The next demo involved making a dragon back plate and hooks which will soon be fixed to the wall at home . Well worth the money and we are looking forward to the next course."

"Where do I start? I wasn't quite sure what to expect before I arrived, but Debbie warmly greeted us all with hot drinks, and homemade biscuits. Andy and Adrian were friendly, approachable, helpful and patient showing us what to do. Some of the results of other attendees were impressive, whilst mine was perhaps a bit hit and miss. However it really didn't matter as I enjoyed the day so much. Great tasty, hearty, healthy food for lunch. What is not to like. Cannot recommend this course enough."

"Could not recommend this course enough! We drove down on the morning and were greeted by Adrian, Andy and Debbie with tea and lovely biscuits. We had a friendly introduction and then got stuck in. Adrian demonstrated really clearly how to do the tasks in doable chunks and then we had all the tools and equipment to do it individually, with just the right amount of supervision and guidance; I always felt like I had done it all myself. The projects we made looked great, and we had a fantastic day. It was certainly worth the cost, and the meal we had at lunchtime was absolutely brilliant- just what we needed after the hard work! Couldn't fault this course at all, looking forward to going back!"

"Hi this was my first taste of Blacksmithing since leaving school 50 years ago. The day did not disappoint, brilliant from start to finish with excellent tuition from Adrian and his associate. Tea and home made biscuits to start the day followed by the obligatory health and safety then down to the first small project to get you into the feel of the forge and heat. Good practical demonstration instruction, stage by stage, followed by an excellent home made lunch and local cheese then back to the heat of the forge and the completion of the Dragon coat hanger. Every one was friendly and helpful. Do not miss this course. I will be back for more. Len Shield"

Dr Brad Kirkland reviewed: Blacksmithing Introduction courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"I came on the beginner's course to get a taste for it because I research fourteenth century armour smiths. Adrian & co. were fantastic the entire time each time I've been out, and now I've made my own tools and am hoping that someone will not be able to make it to a future booked course so that I can take their spot. The first course introduced some basics and gave me the chance to make some gifts for family back home. By the second course I felt a lot more confident in what I was doing, but they still were right there with help and direction whenever it was needed. And of course there's Debbie's excellent food that everyone raves about in these reviews."

Dax Hewitt reviewed: Blacksmithing Introduction courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"This was the third course I have done with Adrian, Andy and Debbie. It's a full day starting with a brew and biscuits then after the safety briefing and a demo by Adrian it's time to put the steel in the fire and start hammering. Each step is demonstrated by Adrian and both Andy and Adrian are constantly on hand to point you in to the right direction. At lunchtime Debbie puts a great spread on of very tasty food but be warned, there is a lot of it. After lunch it's back to the fire and hammers then at finish time it's a hot or cold drink with a large slice of cake. This course was the tool making course, a pair of tongs and a couple of punches. What was particularly good was making the punch then using it to punch the rivet hole in the tongs. It is really satisfying to use a tool that you have made from scratch to make a more advanced tool. After 3 courses I have the tools and enough knowledge to make more tools and go on to make other items too. Thank you Adrian, Debbie and Andy. I will be back next year."
