Marielle reviewed: One day beginners painting course with Sue O'Mara Art - all materials provided

"I attended Sue's one day oil painting course, I had a very nice day. The studio is set in lovely surroundings of woodland, and it is very tranquil. I had never really tried oil painting before and am completely new to this type of media. Sue is an excellent teacher, she's very patient and guides you step by step, she will go over something until you have got it. I found the whole experience a very enjoyable and a very encouraging day. Sue taught me everything from what materials and media to use to create the painting and showed me the techniques needed to use the brushes correctly. With Sue's guidance and support I was very surprised as to how I was able to create the painting. I was well chuffed with myself, with what I have achieved, thank you Sue. I would definitely recommend Sue's course to anyone at any level, try it and see what you think."

Sue O'Mara Art responded:

"Thank you for the kind words Marielle, you created a lovely painting so well done! It was great to have you in the Studio and hope to see you again another time, or maybe even in Spain! Best wishes, Sue"

Julian reviewed: Stained glass leading for beginners

"After a search around for stained glass courses I found Jamal's on here. A choice between 1, 2, 3 and 4 day long courses, so I went for the 4 day one. I'm glad I did. I learnt a lot in those four days, enough to be able to create a stained glass panel, and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The pace suited me, Jamal is very easy to listen to and demonstrates the various techniques well. I'd never tried stained glass before and was a little nervous beforehand but once there that went and the time flew by. I'd recommend his courses to anyone who wants to try something new or even refresh their skills."

Stained Glassic responded:

"Thanks very much Julian!!!"

Couldn't recommend this highly enough."

Isabel reviewed: Lino Printing Day with Oxford Linocut Workshops

"Claire’s course was fantastic- so well organised with all the equipment needed at your fingertips. I have always wanted to learn lino printing techniques and Claire explained the various skills involved perfectly. Her own work is inspirational, and we were privileged to see examples of some of her amazingly detailed woodblocks and finished prints around the studio. I left wanting to learn and print more! A wonderful relaxing, creative day- I absolutely recommend this course."

Caroline Pinder reviewed: Lino Printing Day with Oxford Linocut Workshops

"A wonderful course. Claire's organisation and delivery of the course was excellent in every way. It was an enjoyable day from beginning to end, and I came home with lots of ideas for how to take forward this new skill. Her own artwork is amazing and inspirational - and aspirational, though that's a long journey ahead! I would recommend Claire's course for anyone wanting to learn the basics of lino cutting. It was also helpful that the day following the course sends out a complete set of notes and details of suppliers and other tips on getting started. I'm looking forward to attending future courses with Claire - perhaps Level 2 lino cutting?"

Fiona Campbell reviewed: Five day woodwork course - tools

"I recently undertook course 1 as a complete novice. I was absolutely blown away by the experience. The tuition was excellent from start to finish. Richard and Mark were both so knowledgable and patient. They both have a gift for teaching and sharing their craft. The work book provided was useful and was excellent to continue to add notes to throughout the week. In addition to learning how to make a specific piece of furniture, teaching about specific tools and how to use them safely was invaluable. Also information about setting up a home workshop and buying tools (including second hand tools was really helpful). Everything was carefully thought out and well planned and executed. I have done many courses in my time but this was up there among one of the best. I felt it was excellent value for money and have no hesitation in recommending. Also great was the fact that Richard and Mark are both prepared to be contacted for advice if needed, after the course. Looking forward to consolidating what I've learned so far and to developing new skills on Course 2 in March."

Ann reviewed: Hare Sculpture workshop with Jo Garden Art in beautiful Norfolk/Suffolk

"I had a fantastic day sitting side by side with my best friend, making a leaping hare! Jo was a superb tutor - giving clear and simple instructions, happy to repeat them when I wasn't listening(!) and showing us step-by-step how to create our individual sculptures. It was a wonderful experience, being "allowed" to make art again and encouraged to do so! Jo is a fabulous facilitator, appearing from nowhere with fresh paper for the tables, and bowls of clean water, brewing as much tea and coffee as you wish and always at hand to help and assist if we needed her. Beautiful studio set in very tranquil gardens which were full of interesting sculptures made by Jo. I HIGHLY recommend you book a workshop with Jo - it is art for the soul. I'm delighted with my leaping hare!"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Wow Ann - what a lovely review, thank you so much. I love being busy, so juggling the processes throughout the day is fun for me and hopefully nice for everyone attending. You are right - Art is for the soul and anyone can enjoy some zen time in the studio. Hope to see you again! Jo x"
