Sue Wagstaff reviewed: Tailoring Taster Class

"I recently attender one of Emmas courses and thought it was great. I have sewn for years but had very little knowledge of tailoring and all its secrets. I was given lots of tips that I can use in my everyday sewing as well as give me knew eyes to see what work goes into a professionally tailored garment. Emma was lovely and the day was both relaxing and great fun."

Liz wilson reviewed: One day introduction to stained glass for complete beginners (copper foil method)

"Once again a great class with Sally. Having never cut glass or soldered before I did wonder what I might achieve. But I was not disappointed. Sally kept us on track re time and was as friendly, knowledgeable and helpful as always. With a small group (of 2) we had heaps of 1-1 support and I managed to make a Robin! And much to my amazement it really looked like a Robin!? Just brilliant ?? I thoroughly enjoyed the day and unreservedly recommend Sally’s courses. Next course I will be ‘dot painting’ (Mandela) which looks very calming and mindful. Again never painted anything since school but I have confidence in Sally’s teaching and Can’t wait to give it a go, great ‘me time’ ?"

Craft Workshops responded:

"You worked so hard on the stained glass Liz - and I was really pleased the robin was amazing and much appreciated too. Looking forward to a more chilled day of dotting paint soon - and hopefully some more glass work in the future too :)"

Harriet Jones reviewed: Small Leather Goods Workshop

"We had an absolutely wonderful day at this workshop! Richard is really knowledgable and passionate about leather making and it was really interesting to learn about the different leathers and tanning processes. I really enjoyed making a belt by hand and we got to learn how to cut the leather, punch it, burnish it and saddle stitch it. We are both so proud of the items we made and have been showing them off to everyone! There is nothing quite like a hands-on teaching experience and we both came away feeling confident that we could make a belt on our own next time. That is a testament to how good Richard is as a tutor. We would have absolutely no reservations about recommending him, indeed, many of ours friends are envious about the belts we made and are keen to learn too so we have sent them his way! This course is a great introduction to leather making and has left us wanting to try more advanced ones. Thank you Richard, and keep on doing what you’re doing as you’ve inspired us and I’m sure many others."

Martin reviewed: One-day woodcarving for beginners

"Will has extensive knowledge and experience of carving. More importantly, he is willing and able to teach the subject. Prior to the course, I was asked for some information on my past experience, I described this and explained the specific area of carving I was interested in. I came away with knowledge and experience of the area i was interested in, and with the course content that had already been prepared. Many thanks Will."

Neil & Karyn Gallagher reviewed: Scottish Highland Cow in acrylics on canvas

"My husband and I were warmly met by Amina and over a cup of coffee we chatted telling Amina it was over 40 years ago since I had picked up a paint brush (O level Art) and Neil only painted the walls at home! The studio has lots of natural light and is perfect for painting! The room was set up ready for us and other participants with all the materials we needed for the day. We were shown some watercolour painting techniques by Amina who explained as she went along but was more than happy for any questions from us and then we had a go ourselves! We then went onto painting a kingfisher using what we’d learnt but Amina was completely on hand to assist us whilst also making more coffees for us. After our relaxed lunch we were keen to start on the hare and had free reign, again with Amina on hand. It was so relaxing; I honestly don’t think we’ve stayed sat down like that for years! We couldn’t believe how quickly the time went and we had to get back on the road, with our “master pieces”. We’d love to return but as we’re from Wales it’s a long way to go back. However, we do plan to visit the area again and when we do, we’ll definitely book another class. We’d recommend the class to anyone and everyone from beginners onwards as we felt comfortable and the tuition was at our pace. Thanks for a lovely time. Neil & Karyn"

A.S.K Art & Pottery Gallery & Studio responded:

"It was an absolute pleasure to meet Karyn and Neil. They were very open and willing to experiment with watercolour even though they hadn’t painted for a long time. The paintings they completed were beautiful and showed a real understanding of watercolour painting. I hope to see them again in the future, they were great company. We had some wonderful conversations and plenty of laughter."

Ana reviewed: Introduction to Frame Loom Weaving

"I absolutely loved this weaving workshop and would highly recommend it. It was really fun in a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere. We learnt the basics as well as several different techniques and how to work with different materials. The small class size was ideal, as everyone felt fully supported. Alice was very patient and let us do our thing, but was always there to help and provide advice and tips. She encouraged us to try out new things, which was very inspirational. A great day out on your own or with friends/family!"

"A very good workshop. 5 people were present so it was a friendly and intimate group. Jodie was a pleasant and helpful teacher. The room was all set up ready.
