Niki reviewed: Silver jewellery making class for beginners

"An absolutely perfect Mother's Day present. The day was really nice with "warm up" makes and then the final make. Jonathan was excellent at explaining the steps and it was so lovely to come away with a "wearable" gem I had made. This reignited my enjoyment of metal work (last used in 1982 'O' level metalwork!). Great cake too!"

Salt Way Silver responded:

Clive Trewhitt reviewed: Blacksmithing Introduction courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"An Excellent course, learnt a great deal, left after making two items which I would never have believed I could at the start of the day. One word of warning if you're on a diet you'll need to have lots of self control as the meal was very nice with very large portions."

Katy B reviewed: Blacksmithing Introduction courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"Today I spent the day learning a bit about the heritage craft of blacksmithing - it was hard graft - but I turned a steel rod in to a trendy keyring and a steel bar in to a dragon (well, a coat hook). I didn’t think I would be able to manage it, with my lack of coordination and upper body strength, but with a little help from Ade and Andy, who were amazing teachers, I totally nailed it! Or, should I say, riveted it… l highly recommend checking out the courses, but be quick they get full fast! Food was lovely too thanks to Debbie - I am still stuffed after coffee and flapjack, then a lunch of chilli, jacket potato, breads from a local bakers, cheese from a local cheese shop, cake and custard - and then, as if that wasn’t enough, cake and tea before we left for home!"

Ange and John reviewed: One Day Stained Glass Course for Beginners

"We both had a wonderful creative day with Dan and Abbie, learning from start to finish all the various stages of putting together a stained glass panel design with full hands on experience. The day went at a nice pace, with a small group of 4 people, with plenty of tea breaks in between creativity, and lots of one to one support and guidance. It has given us a true appreciation of the art and the professional skills of Dan and Abbie who have had over 20 years experience ( they don’t look old enough!) We are now proudly displaying our panel creations and still talking about our wonderful experience. I would highly recommend the course to anyone."

Kevin and Sue reviewed: Beginners Pottery Day Course

"When we arrived Matthew was already waiting at his front door and he beckoned us in with a warm smile and a welcome cup of tea. He immediately put any nerves at bay - but set the target for the day quite high, so we were excited to get started on making pots. There was no sense of rushing, however, and Matthew took time to work with each of us in turn, again and again, gently guiding us so we went from throwing clay on the wheel for the very first time to shaping bowls and a dainty jug, which we were able to decorate before the end of the day. Matthew is clearly a talented and very experienced potter - but he is also a natural coach and teacher, building confidence alongside skills, minimising disasters but also teaching from mistakes and mishaps. We drove from South Wales to take part in this workshop and it was absolutely worth the journey. We made a weekend of it, visiting three pottery museums in Stoke (including the two where The Great Pottery Throwdown has been filmed) and even staying in the Potbank, a hotel set up in the former Spode pottery works. It was all in all a really enjoyable themed weekend - with Matthew's class very much the highlight. We'd thoroughly recommend it to others. Thank you Matthew!"

Dimbleby Ceramics - Studio Pottery Courses responded:

"Hi Kevin and Sue, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. It was great to have you both on the course and your progress throughout the day was evident in the forms that you both produced. It was also great to hear that you took the opportunity to visit other historical pottery sites and museums whilst here. The area has a great to deal going on and being on the doorstep of Trentham gardens is also great for visitors too. Best wishes Mathew"
