Lainey Molton reviewed: Fused glass workshop waves and candle holders

"A fantastic, inspiring, relaxing day's workshop. Tracey was vey welcoming and explained the process extremely well. We had a extensive choice of materials to use and they were all demonstrated with examples of what was possible. It is a lovely peaceful location and it pleasurable to sit in her garden to eat our lunch. I learnt a lot and love what I made there. If you have an interest in glass fusion or just want to make a couple of pretty things for yourself then this the course to go on. We are going back later in the year to do the Lantern workshop. Sarah reviewed: Blacksmith Experience Day - Anvil Forge

"A really enjoyable day. I did not have high expectations of what I, as an absolute novice, could achieve in a day and was beyond delighted with the garden sculpture and poker I took home. The tutors were fantastic and really encouraging. They had the balance spot on for letting you have a go at every technique and then rescuing the mistakes to prevent disaster. Cannot recommend this course more highly."

Anvil Forge responded:

"Hi Sarah Thanks for the review , we aim to offer the best possible experience on all our classes and make sure everyone ends up with a handmake piece of metalwork they are proud of. best wishes John"

Sara reviewed: Upholstery/cushion making

"What a brilliant two day workshop. Not only did I learn a new skill of upholstery but I also learnt how to do it to a highly professional standard. Before the course I’d stripped down an old dining room chair that belong to my grandparents and which had been recovered in the 1970s. In the workshop, because we used traditional methods and materials, I realised that the 1970’s reupholstery had not been very professionally done. This time my chair was finished without a single staple (just traditional tacks) and I can’t believe how many staples I‘d removed from the 1970s upholstery. Jo is a superb teacher and knows her craft extremely well. She showed everybody individually what they needed to do and she managed to be there the moment one of us embarked on a new step or had a question. She worked hard to ensure that we got the best result we could get for our chairs. It was a friendly, fun environment too. The workshop is exhausting – you’re standing all day, using muscles that haven’t been used in that way before and learning a new skill, but it is incredibly satisfying, plus, at the end of it, you have a beautiful and comfortable chair to sit on. I’ve enrolled on Jo’s next course to reupholster another old dining room chair. Can’t wait."

What Jo did next responded:

"Aw thanks Sara! Glad you enjoyed it so much... you are a really attentive student. See you soon! x"

Julie King reviewed: Blacksmith Experience Day - Anvil Forge

"What a fantastic day. Spencer and Aidan were brilliant, patient tutors. After making a poker, we set about creating our desired pieces after a brief discussion about what they entailed. My husband created a knife blade and used lots of techniques. I came away delighted with several garden ornaments for glass balls that I had previously made. Aidan was very attentive in checking along the way that the balls fitted the metalwork. Lunch was provided and the atmosphere was really pleasant. I would definitely recommend, and would be very happy to return."

Anvil Forge responded:

"Hi Julie I am pleased the guys looked after you so well , we try hard to make sure the experience is positive and everyone comes away with something they are proud of and hopefully have something to show off to friends and family. We would love to see you back again in the future. best wishes John"

Hayden reviewed: Blacksmithing for Beginners - Full Day Forging for One

"Chris was not only a great blacksmith and a lovely person, but also an exceptional teacher. He guided me through making a small but intricate leaf key ring, and then set me loose on my own project where I was able to use the techniques I learnt early in the day on a bigger item! It was a fantastic experience, and I can highly recommend it to anyone who has an interest in metalworking. It was also excellent value for money. I would recommend bringing a set of earplugs (to put halfway in) if you have sensitive ears, as I do :)"
