Kate, our tutor made learning a new craft hugely enjoyable, pacing the teaching well, providing loads of nuances and top-tips to ensure success and encouraging and instructing the small group with immense skill and good humour. Karen Meek reviewed: Silver Clay Beginners Workshop

"Had a great day on this beginners silver clay course. No experience necessary and I learned a lot about silver clay and different techniques to use. We were given the tools and taught how to use them but could come up with whatever design we chose then fired them three different ways. Would definitely recommend this course and Marianne was a great teacher, very knowledgeable and helpful. "

Jackie reviewed: Slate mosaic workshop at Jo Garden Art

"Jo is amazing, what a couple of days! Jo had everything prepared, her calm and patient manner, explaining before we started and then with us every step to reassure, advise and help. The tea and Kit Kats to keep us going were very welcome 🤗. To finally get to our finished pieces, unique and special to us all, we all felt such an achievement. On the second day, I was making a large piece of slate art and a big bit fell off. Jo said we’d need a miracle….well, she made a miracle happen! Thank you. I drove home both excited and exhausted, everything held together, phew! Now taking pride of place in my kitchen and hall, I’d highly recommend spending a day here 👍"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Wow Jackie! So glad to hear your large piece made it home intact! I hope all the additional highlight materials went on OK - it really was a work of art! Well done 👏👏👏 Jo xx"

Jacquie T reviewed: Full Day Set Piece Experience with Orchard Blacksmith

"I bought the day experience for my partner's birthday gift, but didn't want to miss out & came along too! Sean & Ryan took the course. What really lovely & helpful guys they are. We started off gently which was great, it gave us both the confidence for making our 'stand out' piece of 3 coat hooks. The time went quickly which is always a good sign. I can't recommend this experience highly enough. Thank you so much."

Sarah Backhouse reviewed: Saturday silver clay jewellery workshop at Ransom's Pavilion, Hitchin 1.30pm - 5.00pm

"I attended Tuuli's silver clay workshop at Ransom's Pavillion, Hitchin. The workshop was a birthday gift - the process of booking with a gift voucher was very straightforward. Before attending I received helpful instructions about where to go, what to bring and what to expect. The workshop was a small group of 6, plus Tuuli. We were all made very welcome, and Tuuli started with a friendly intro to the course and what we'd be doing. The workshop was hugely fun and rewarding. We learned so many techniques, and I particularly enjoyed using the blowtorch! We practised making our pieces first before being let loose on the silver clay, which I found very helpful. The clay itself was easier to work with than I was expecting, and the finished pieces were delicate and very pretty. I was delighted to be able to make three small pendants plus a pair of earrings, which was more than I was expecting - basically we were given a set amount of clay, and could do what we wanted with it, some made a single ring, others like me made a few items. At each step Tuuli gave a very clear explanation, and took the time to show us (sometimes repeatedly!) how to do something - I really appreciated her patience and friendly manner, especially when I held things up a bit when trying to get my earrings to match (sorry about that!). The pace and content of the course were perfect for me as a beginner - however I think it would also be fine if you do have some experience and had a piece in mind that you wanted to make. I would definitely recommend Tuuli's workshop - the whole experience was simple, fun, inclusive and rewarding, and I'm absolutely delighted with what I achieved. Definitely good value for money too. Thank you. "

Tuuli Parker responded:

"Sarah thank you so much for such an in-depth review! I really do appreciate the time it took you to write this and the detail you covered. I'm so pleased to hear your thoughts and that you are happy with what you made - your pieces came out beautifully! Kindest regards, Tuuli"

Gill Rice reviewed: Stained glass weekly classes in Sheffield (South Yorkshire)

"I have just finished the Monday night course and have signed up to go back after Easter! Martin is a great teacher and he has thought of everything! You make 3 items in total, following a template you make a stained glass panel using foil, then a second leaded panel before completing your own project under Martin’s expert guidance. Everyone has their own tools and dedicated work space. There are full colour options when choosing your glass for your first two projects, and an abundance of glass available on site if you need to purchase any for your own project. Everyone is so friendly and interested in each other’s work. It’s an amazing atmosphere at the sessions. Martin explains each stage very clearly and is very encouraging. Nothing is too much trouble. I would definitely recommend!!!"

"Thank you for the lovely review, I look forward to seeing you again next term."
