Vickie Rudkin reviewed: Beginners half-day pairs pottery throwing workshop

"Had a pottery workshop with Louise on Sunday and it was so much fun. She was very patient with us both and we have not laughed like that in a very long time. We did manage to get some respectable pieces off in the end too and can't wait to see what they come out of the kiln like! Would highly recommend Louise and the workshops at Blended Monkey - Simon does the woodwork courses too. Lovely spot and a really creative place to be."

Blended Monkey - pottery - woodturning - green woodworking - pole lathe - throwing responded:

"Vickie, thank you for your lovely review. It was a joy having you guys in the studio and I'm so pleased you had fun discovering the potter's wheel :-). Very sweet of you to recommend our workshops. I'll let you know when your creations are ready :-) "

Catherine reviewed: Silver clay short course

"Absolutely amazing course x Anna was so knowledgeable, patient and helpful. I was able to make several pieces while there, that I love, and felt confident that I could continue and try these myself at home. The environment was calm and well set out, with all equipment and the work area clear and clean, Anna talked me through various methods and techniques so that I was familiar how I could build these into my pieces when working alone. I really enjoyed my day, I couldn't be happier. Thank you Anna "

Silver Jewellery Art responded:

"Hi Catherine, what a lovely review of the course. I'm glad you liked it and that you've caught the bug to continue working independently. It was a great pleasure for me to work with such a talented person. Thank you."

Penny reviewed: Mosaic day workshop with Professional Artist Coralie Turpin- Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

"I had a fabulous day on this course, even though I turned up with only a rough idea of what to do. Coralie, the tutor, is very helpful and generous with her skills and knowledge. I learnt a huge amount in just one day! The workshop is in a large room full of light, in a big building of artists' studios. You can't help but feel the creativity everywhere! I would highly recommend this course. "

Anna Brooker reviewed: Spoon carving in the woods

"Fantastic workshop! Suz was very patient with our somewhat questionable skills and carefully explained each technique. Very calm, mindful atmosphere sitting in a clearing in the bluebell wood, whittling away. Very happy with our slightly wonky first attempts at spoons and ordering some whittling tools this week! Highly recommended! "

The Coppice Co. responded:

"Thank you Anna! Best of luck with your continuing spoon journey!"

vivien meadows reviewed: Abstracting the Landscape in Acrylics - Workshop

"An inspiring interactive workshop building on our skills with encouragement, advice and new ways of tackling lines, paint and materials. Took me forward another stage from where I’d arrived on Lynn’s 12 week course. Really helpful working with a small group and working with others. Broadens my understanding of landscape too"

Paint What You Feel with Lynn Keddie responded:

"Thank you for your review Vivien. As always, I really enjoy working with you. Your work is inspiring and I'm glad that with a little guidance you are developing some really beautiful pieces, with beautiful passages of paint that are uniquely you. The group was great, everyone put in 110%. I think we were all exhausted by the end of it! I loved it too. Happy painting, Lynn"

Mike Cooper reviewed: Blacksmithing Introduction courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"Along with two friends we attended Ade’s fantastic Blacksmith Course near Yarm. A warm welcome with coffee followed a comprehensive H&S talk and then we were away with our first project. Ade & Andy provided help and humour all day showing how to get the best results from our time at the furnace. Debbie’s lovely food was served with a smile & the lunchtime added to the feeling of camaraderie amongst the group. At the end of the day we had two nice projects to show off at home and a lot of laughs along the way. Highly Recommended for anyone to attend. "

Jeff Carter reviewed: Glass blowing for beginners with Jon Lewis

"Really enjoyable experience - it's not as easy as he makes it look but you start to get the hang of it towards the end, which leaves you definitely wanting another go! After learning the basics of handling molten glass and making a few glass pebbles you soon move onto adding colours and blowing shapes. Jon talks you through everything and works very much at your pace so it never feels like you're being rushed onto the next thing - thoroughly recommended."

Laura reviewed: Fused Glass Introduction with Manchester Stained glass

"I loved the Fused Glass workshop! I have done other workshops with Sharon and really enjoy her approach - just the right balance of demonstrating the skills needed and then letting us loose on all the beautiful materials . The Fused Glass class is especially good in that regard as there is an array of glass products to use- not just the sheets of flat coloured glass - which really did it for me! Such an enjoyable afternoon - as usual the small group setting meant that I could get help whenever I needed it - and I was really pleased with the piece I made."

Manchester Stained Glass responded:

"Hi Laura, Thank you for your lovely review, and your description of the workshop, it is indeed an array of glass. Pleased to know that the small group setting worked well. It has been great to have you return to the studio to try out other glassy workshops. Thank you again, Sharon x "

Linda reviewed: Hardwood table furniture-making course with Finbarr Lucas

"I recently had the delight of attending Finbarr’s 3-day table making course. His small class size means he’s always on hand to guide students. He is immensely knowledgeable and has a unique style of teaching. In the same way that a yoga teacher or physiotherapist uses their hands to correct your stance, Finbarr positions you so that you apply the correct pressure where wood and blade meet. Finally, I can make straight cuts!!! Not only did I learn loads, but I had a wonderful, relaxed weekend with friendly people. Oh, and delicious cake!!"

Finbarr Lucas responded:

"Many thanks, Linda. It was a delight to meet you and the other students on the course last weekend, and I thoroughly enjoyed the three days. There are a lot of different skills to take on on this course, from marking and measuring, cutting and shaping, chopping and drilling, to sanding, finishing and waxing, and you applied yourself to all of them enthusiastically and with determination. You should be very proud of the table you produced, and I hope it takes pride of place in your home. My partner Jess was very chuffed to have mention of her home-made cakes as well!"

Ieuan Rosser reviewed: Welding For Beginners

"The course exceeded expectations. A very relaxed environment and style of course, a small group so lots of one to one advice and guidance. The content of the course was flexible enough to fit to the various needs of the attendees. Very hands on early in the day following the safety introduction, but the theory and principles were covered naturally as the day went on. Liam was a very knowledgeable instructor and was always on hand to answer questions with clear and easy to understand explanations. Would highly recommend to others looking to gain an understanding of core welding principles whilst having a predominately hands on day in a comfortable and welcoming environment."

Sue reviewed: 3D Elegant Lady A4 Canvas

"My daughter and I attended the ‘elegant lady canvas’ workshop and thoroughly enjoyed it. Jan was very welcoming and kept us well supplied with drinks and snacks. Her teaching was very clear and she guided us through the various techniques but also gave us lots of opportunities to apply our own creativity and ideas. I would thoroughly recommend this workshop."
