Linda Woolvertons reviewed: One Day Leather Bag Making Workshop

"My Daughter and I did the one day course and it was everything, and more, than I hoped for. We both came home with a very different, and personal handbag and the tuition, help and support was fabulous. Sarah is a very skilled and excellent tutor. The workshop, atmosphere, lunch, and choice of what to make, materials, designs and everything couldn't be bettered. Came home tired, fulfilled and proud of what we had achieved. The tuition was patient and help was offered, but we didn't feel rushed or pushed at all. I would recommend this course to anyone interested in leather and think it is possible we might be back in future for a go at more complicated leather work. Thank you Sarah. This course was a joint birthday present from me to us both and I can't think of anything better I could have chosen. "

Alec Parry reviewed: Stone carving for beginners - Weymouth

"What a brilliant day! I had wanted to try stone carving for a long time and am so glad I chose John's course. He is an excellent instructor; very clear and helpful with lots of tips and encouragement plus some great stories. The class was small (6 of us), very relaxed and it was a lovely atmosphere. The time flew by as our attempts started to take shape and I was delighted with the end result. I can't recommend John highly enough. If you are thinking about giving it a go then this is the course to do. "

Sculptor John Davey responded:

"Many thanks for that Alec. I had a great day as well. Really good group dynamics. You carved a brilliant sculpture and should be very proud. Hope you missed the traffic on the way home. Take care, John."

Sam C-P reviewed: Shoemaking workshop

"Had a wonderful time. Loved a small group, so had plenty of attention for everyone . Had a good laugh, Kate is an excellent tutor and lovely person😃 It was so much fun making shoes and they didn’t turn out too bad for a first attempt👍 Excellent communication, so I knew what I wanted to make and what I would need to bring as well, although included in the cost are the materials you would need (unless you choose a more complicated shoe) so excellent value for money. Highly recommended, a wonderful day out, lots of laughs and fun, and you come away with a wearable pair of shoes 👍👍👍😃"

"I did the whittling course with Matt and Emma and what an amazing location. So back to basics and such a very enjoyable experience. Was a nice small group of people and plenty of help with the projects we did. The time just flew by. Would definitely recommend someone having a go at whittling and Matt is very knowledgeable and passionate about all things wood. I made 2 mushrooms and very pleased with them. Keen enough that I will be doing more of it. "

Helen Sims reviewed: Chair making course at Sallerton Wood

"I thoroughly enjoyed the chair making course. Andy is a knowledgeable, friendly, kind and patient teacher. I had hardly any woodworking experience, but managed to produce a complete chair that I was proud to show off to my friends! I stayed camping in the woods, and enjoyed the peacefulness, hot shower and was able to charge my phone from the solar panels. Food at break time was lovely home made bread, and pizza on Wednesday . I would highly recommend this course."

Sallerton Wood responded:

"Thank you very much indeed, Helen, for your lovely review and recommendation. We are really pleased that you enjoyed the course so much, and also the camping experience in the peaceful woodland setting. Thanks also for your kind words about the lunches provided. We hope that you enjoy the use of your lovely chair for many years to come. Thank you for supporting us. "

Vivienne reviewed: Beginner's Woodcarving half day course

"I really enjoyed this course. There were five participants which enabled our instructor to give a lot of one-to-one practical help with our designs. She was obviously skilled in wood carving and was able to guide us well with the different cuts and how to handle the tools. I think I would have appreciated a short handout to take home with perhaps, the sizes of the tools we actually used on the day (I had forgotten by the time I got home!) and maybe some books suggestions or useful websites addresses (I did find it tricky to find simple templates online for instance}. But overall very good and the time went very quickly, as we were all so absorbed in the carving. Vivienne"

Yandle & Sons Ltd responded:

"Good Morning, Thank you for your review. I will pass the feedback on to Anna and see what we can do about handouts etc for future courses. I can't send links to tools etc via this message but if you contact us directly I can send links to you"

"Thoroughly enjoyed my one day workshop with Jo and was thrilled with my medium sized hare! The whole day was so well organised in a beautiful setting and the artwork itself was an enjoyable process. Both Jo and Andy were excellent hosts (thanks for the satnav assistance Andy) and I will hopefully return for another course in the future."

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Julie! I think the local council decided to create road work closures all round us for a few days! Well done on negotiating them 🤗 So glad you enjoyed the day and loved your hare. We hope to see you back in the studio! Jo x"

Kiran reviewed: Gel Printing for Beginners

"Attending this course on 25th July, I’ve had the most wonderful time learning a new way to create unique prints every single time. This technique has given me a lot of ideas on how to apply different materials for textures to the prints. The course is a great value for money as it has added a new way to my work, which I’ll be using in conjunction with my other art in future. Very inspiring. Jayne is such a patient teacher and showed me everything from beginning to end, even how to store away the gelli plate after finishing. Thank you Jayne. "

Southlands Arts Centre responded:

"What a super review to receive, thank you so much. You were a pleasure to teach. Gel printing is a lovely relaxing activity, there's no pressure to 'get it right', it's all about finding your style and finding your style you did. Your prints were simply wonderful, a sort of tour of the globe, the colours reminiscent of an allotment in the UK, the South Pacific of Gauguin and the Great Barrier Reef. I'm looking forward to seeing the ones we selected framed and in our Summer Art Exhibition. Hopefully we'll see you again soon at Southlands Arts, once again practising your art. "
