Stella Levy reviewed: Intensive 2 day mosaic course with Claire Cotterill Mosaics @ Martineau Gardens, Birmingham city centre, West Midlands.

"I attended this course recently. It was the first time Claire had run the course from her home due to having to find alternative studio space. She was an excellent hostess and facilitator. I really enjoyed the course. It was well paced and informative. I surprised myself with my first mosaic wall hanging which turned out really well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this course and would like to attend further courses run by Claire. I'm hoping to pursue making mosaics as a hobby inspired by Claire."

"Nicky gave a Shoe Decorating workshop for me for my Hen Party! It was a surprise for me by my Bridesmaids and I had the best time! She was friendly, welcoming, fun and really clear and helpful in her instructions. So much glitter and sparkle and easy and enjoyable for someone like me you likes crafts but is not overly arty. The Workshop was fun, girly and above all gave us beautiful shoes - would highly recommend for a hen party, girly party or any excuse really. Enjoy ladies!! And thankyou!!"

"I recently participated in a wood turning beginners day course with Andy at his workshop in Fordingbridge , Hampshire. The day proved to be informative and very interesting and Andy was very patient as I was a beginner and he was able to teach me the basics of wood turning and the use of the equipment in a language that I found easy to understand . I came away with good sound knowledge of the basics of wood turning and all this was achieved in one day ! Thanks Andy . I will be recommending your day courses to others and to anyone reading this review I can vouch for Andy's expertise and easy to understand teaching methods for the novice . I will be returning to Andy's day courses and hopefully this is the start of a hobby that I will enjoy for many years to come ."

Vicki reviewed: Blacksmithing Experience Day

"This was a birthday present for my teenage son and husband, they absolutely loved it. Col. was a fantastic teacher, and very patient. They made a variety of items including coat hooks and fire pokers and a dagger!!! My son is still talking about it 3 days later and has taken his items to scouts to show everyone. Fires, hammers, getting dirty, making 'stuff' what is not too like!!"

Brian Heward reviewed: Wood turning courses in the Midlands

"Mark is a first rate and 'oh so' patient trainer who really makes it all look so easy. Although I have been on a few training courses before Mark did not only teach the woodturning skills but always fell back to 'shape and form'. This I had not met before and I found this aspect particularly inspiring. He gave out clear and extremely useful course notes which I am currently finding invaluable for techniques of producing hollow forms - which is one of Marks specialties. Mark has a profound knowledge of both woodturning and the appropriate artistic foresight and ability to disseminate both of these, all done with patience and humor. I will certainly be attending a one2one with Mark in the near future."

"I had a wonderful time on my felting course. I learnt a completely new technique for wet felting that is much kinder on the arms, hands and fingers. You explained everything well. The venue was good. Looking out over the fields helped get the colours right. Your teaching skills are good and you had time for all of us, helping us get out pictures which we are proud of creating. "I booked the Art of glass studio for my son's 9th birthday party. It was such a brilliant party! The children were able to use glass and glass paints to make there own master piece ( which they all created beautiful work) Ros was a great host and very professional. They all designed 1 piece of glass and were given party bags at the end with a star shaped glass pieces for that extra special touch. My 9year old and his friends thought the party was great fun and would love to have another go."

Andrew reviewed: Furniture making course: Fundamentals of Furniture Making Part 1 (beginner)

"Excellent good fun and came out with a great picture frame. Some hard work is required and a lot of is crammed into a class. Since the course my tool box has grown heavily and I just wish I had a space to practice more at home. There are many things to learn on the course, many of which are tacit skills. Like seeing and experiencing different tools and workshop methods. There is a definite emphasis on skills to finish more precise quality work for cabinet making over other forms of carpentry."

Martin Weaver reviewed: Wood turning courses

"Thank you so much for such a fascinating day yesterday. I thoroughly enjoyed myself on your wood turning course. It brought back many great memories from when I briefly did turning at school. The love and passion you have for the craft and the material itself was clear and your patient approach was inspirational. I am seriously considering taking it up as a hobby. If anyone needs to be inspired to take up a craft or skill, they need not look any further than you. Thank you once again. I will be in touch soon. With all best wishes. Martin"

Charles reviewed: Wood turning courses in the Midlands

"I have recently completed a two day course with Mark (February 2016). I have not done any wood turning since school days in early 90s, so a few decades have past since then ! Mark is extremely knowledgeable, and passes on information in a relaxed and informative manner. He is willing and able to answer all questions with examples which can be as detailed or as brief as you require. Aside from turning, his understanding of wood and its properties, combined with general workshop tips and suggestions, I found very positive and reassuring. After two days I knew my tools, tried both parallel and cross grain turning, was able to turn a spindle with coves and beads, sharpen tools on the grinder and I made my first ever bowl (a bit more practise needed here !). His course notes are also well written and a good record to take away at the end for future reference. Mark has definitely rekindled my love for wood-based projects and opened the door on the joy of turning, and I would be happy to recommend him as either a group or a private tutor to others. Many thanks Mark and I'm sure I will be in touch again soon for more advice !"
