Karen Anderson reviewed: Blacksmith Experience Day - Anvil Forge

"My husband and I had a great day at Anvil Forge and were spoilt by our 1:1 tuition from John and Spencer. We were given clear instruction and guidance yet afforded the opportunity to fully construct our pieces ourselves. In addition to the satisfaction provided by hammering hot metal, we also tried our hand at welding too. Despite my comments at the start of the day that I am not very creative, I was thrilled with my bullrushes garden ornament. I foresee another visit to Anvil Forge in the future."

Paul reviewed: 1-2-1 Art Tutor Dorset

"I undertook 12 weeks of 1:1 classes. I could not be happier with the time spent learning a new skill. The 1:1 classes helped me to move forwards quicker than in group classes and they gave me confidence and observation skills that allow me to now work independently and with a number of medium. This class is very much for you if you really want to learn, be challenged and supported to think independently and develop observation. It's not a course teaching shortcuts and effects so be prepared!! Prior to these classes, I had not practiced any art for around 20 years and was simply enthusiastic!. Thank you !"

Lynda reviewed: Rag Rug Half Day Workshop - Hertfordshire

"What a great way to spend a morning! Great company and expert tutor providing knowledge and encouragement. I had never picked up a latch tool but at the end of three hours I was confident to go home and continue the cushion I started at the course. Already I have spent two happy evenings in front of the TV working on my cushion and have even roped in my other half to cut up strips of fabric for me. So relaxing for both of us and a craft I look forward to continuing with for many years. Highly recommend Elspeth and her book for guidance."

Lucy reviewed: Crochet for Beginners (Adults) in Putney

"I attended a crochet course with Sowmya on my birthday and it was hands down the best birthday I've ever had! I'd never crocheted before (but had some knitting experience) and I absolutely loved it (and enjoyed it much more than knitting)! Sowmya is a lovely person who is both knowledgable and patient. She welcomed us with such warmth and kindness and I left having learnt a lot. I would recommend this course for anyone who wants to learn the beautiful art of crocheting."

Sunny reviewed: Two day needle felting a wired armature animal

"Karin is a great teacher, encouraging you to create something better than you thought you could, and everyone's creature reflects their own character so you don't all come out with a "cookie-cutter" creature. Therecis also lots of laughter and general silliness and usually chocolate. I made a unicorn at one of these workshops."

Karen Corfield reviewed: Two day needle felting a wired armature animal

"I have attended several courses with Karin. She has taken me as a complete beginner to someone who now likes to do a bit of felting in their spare time. She is a supremely patient teacher, who is fun and so enthusiastic about everything her students are making. She is able to visualise our creatures, even when wr cant and guide us all so that at the end of the course everyone leaves with something that they are proud of. I would recommend Karin's courses to anyone."

Malcolm Harwood reviewed: One day welding course: an introduction

"I went with a pal for a days welding course not having done any MIG welding ever before. Had done gas welding though whilst building the ark! It is easy once you get going and Julian is a good tutor. He makes it look very easy. The only snag is that it just takes a lot of practice. You can not criticize that amount of time that we spent welding. Lots of hands on experience. Would recommend it to anyone."

Cathryn Gathercole reviewed: Kate Morrell willow sculpture courses

"By happy accident (for me) I was the only participant on the course so had extra special tuition from Kate throughout the day. She is very knowledgeable and creative, offering hands on support and advice to help me make a wonderful - if rather large - heron. As I had not worked with willow much beforehand I was uncertain as to what I would be able to achieve, but I was delighted with the end result! Kate and Dave were very friendly and welcoming, with plenty of refreshments available during the day - although I didn't really want to stop! I have no hesitation in recommending this course to others."

Marion Chenery reviewed: Hand spinning for beginners at Cartmel Handspun

"What a thoroughly enjoyable day. After having acquired a Spinning Wheel from an acquaintance I had been struggling to get to grips with the techniques, Elaine was the epitome of patience and as a result I now have a much better feel for what I was doing wrong. I left feeling uplifted and ready to spin! My wheel needs a little maintenance though before I can start (part of the learning along with many other tips and asides) absolutely brilliant, I am looking forward to attending another of Elaine's courses at a later date . Thank You very much"

Paul reviewed: Glass Enamelling on Copper for Jewellery - kiln enamelling

"A wonderful day. Eleanor is an enthusiastic and inspiring teacher, who explains and demonstrates clearly. Within a short time, we had finished our first piece of enamel. So much is put into one day, covering a variety of techniques, which we immediately put into practice. We all had some beautiful results. Thoroughly recommended!"

Lyn Stephenson reviewed: Fusing glass - beginners - Witney, Oxfordshire

"I would strongly recommend this course, which I did in December 2016. I had previously done traditional leading courses, but glass fusing was new to me. I learned such a lot in one day, Ros was an excellent teacher- she explained the whole process very clearly and I spent time carefully choosing what to make and what colours to use and by the end of the afternoon my coasters and dish were put in the kiln for firing, then posted on to me a few days later. Altogether a thoroughly enjoyable day and I look forward to doing a more advanced course in her new studio this year."

Linda Chambers reviewed: Full day leather craft workshop

"Late last year decided I wanted to try and make a knife role for my son (who is a chef) to hold his professional knives in when travelling. I researched a little and found a Rosanna Gethin studio. Booking and payment was simple and followed up by Rosanna sending encouraging emails that enabled me to actually plan what i wanted to make. I was a little apprehensive as im not at all 'crafty' . I need not of worried, as I was made thoroughly welcome. Rosanna assisted me to turn my idea into a wonderful reality. I can not believe "I" was able to construct the item I left the work shop with! Rosanna suggested a few extra professional touches which make it look totally amazing. I would highly recomend her. She is a lovely teacher she is patient and encouraging. I found the day to be so fulfilling. My advice if you have an idea for a leather creation, do not delay, sign up to one if her courses! You will be in awe of what she helps you to make!!"

Frankie gibbons reviewed: Pottery making party in lovely seaside studio

"I bought my boyfriend and I a day's workshop for his birthday and we had the most fantastic time. Jenny is friendly, helpful and patient (important for us beginners!) and we had a brilliant day trying our hand at a bit of everything we had time for. The location is stunning and we walked along the beach over lunch. Thanks Jenny for such a fantastic day, we can't wait to see our pots!"

Keith tandy reviewed: Blacksmithing Experience Day

"I was treated to this course as a Christmas present as I have always been interested in blacksmithing. From the very start Colin was very welcoming and informative. We were given a safety brief and then shown how to make a basic hook. After we were shown some more technical techniques we were allowed to design and build pretty much whatever we wanted, always under the wathlchfull eye of Colin to make sure we were safe and more importantly enjoying ourselves. I can honestly say it has been one of my better days out. So much so we are thinking of returning soon. I cannot thank you enough."

"It was around 3 years since I last practice but my friend drag me into this classes. I went with low expectations but the outcome was fantastic. Ian Henley reviewed: Blacksmithing for beginners - one day taster

"An inspired Christmas present from my wife. A cold winters day outside but soon warmed up working with the forge. Learnt a huge amount in such a short time - the day flew by. Aaron is a very relaxed, welcoming and knowledgeable teacher who really cares about his craft. Lots of time spent hands-on with tools resulting in some great things to take home and keep. Plenty of hot tea as well. The perfect antidote to the stress of modern life and something I will keep thinking back on for a long time. I would highly recommend it to anyone."

Merry Metcalf reviewed: Needle-felting course with FURZIE at The Globe, Hay on Wye, Herefordshire *Accommodation available*

"A fabulous day with Michelle in Hay on Wye, I was amazed at how much we got done and the quality of the finished items, which is all down to her excellent tuition. We all finished our needle felt animals and went home extremely happy with our day and enthusiastic about needle felting and what we could achieve with it. An extra plus was the wonderful lunch and coffee provided at the venue. I would highly recommend Michelle as a needle felting teacher and crafter, her work is exquisite!"

Neil Pallister reviewed: Wood turning courses

"What can I say? Brilliant, informative, inspiring! I really enjoyed my day yesterday and I really appreciated George's patience, experience and diligent teaching. I have always loved the elements: water, rock and wood. George has shown me how to make wood ‘speak’ and how to turn it with ease to produce beautiful forms. The decorative effects were the icing on the cake. Simple yet effective and I can see the thought and attention to detail that really pays off. Many thanks to George again for the course and his wife Sue for keeping me fed and watered on such a cold day! I highly recommend it to anyone reading this. I will definitely be back!!"

Sam Robinson reviewed: Hide camp - deer skin into buckskin

"In their ability to transmit a subtlety and depth of technique whilst all the while feeling like nothing more formal than friends at common work in the woods, Jessie and Jane possess a rare mastery of the teacher's art; enabling each their own discovery of the craft, never simply telling us what to do. However, more important even than the expert instruction, was the experience of camp life that was created and shared. This was not really a course, but rather a remedy for amnesia; a glimpse of who we were during the forgotten majority of our history, and who we could be again, if we are to do better by each other and by the earth."

Sarah reviewed: Full day leather craft workshop

"Yesterday I did a full day workshop with Rosanna and came away with four beautiful items: a gorgeous reddish brown purse/wallet complete with zipped pocket for coins and several slots for cards and larger notes, a lined zipped coin purse with funky design on the outside, a hand stitched card holder for my partner, and a matching stylish and strong keyring. Three of the items are embossed with our initials which makes them really special and looks great! I was amazed at how many different techniques I was able to have a go at during the course of the day and could never have imagined the quality of what I would be bringing home with me - very pleased and proud! Thanks to Rosanna for being so skilled and talented - both creatively and in her teaching style. I highly recommend this course!"
