Alan Thompson. reviewed: Wood turning courses in the Midlands

"This was my second class with Mark, the first was my 65th birthday present and the last was my employers retirement present, best presents ever. Totally absorbing both with the quality of teaching , equipment and tools. Marks skill and knowledge are infectious , I am eagerly looking forward to my next class, by which time I will have practiced the techniques of both shaping the wood ,and sharpening the gouges. The class does not just finish with the days session, follow up direction and information regarding further help are also given. Brillant"

"My wife and I did a 6 hour course and loved it! We were both beginners, but found an inner passion for pottery by the end of the day and will definitely be booking another course in the near future. Jack and Vanessa are superb hosts, Their studio is beautiful - a tranquil escape from the hustle of London - and the lunch was fantastic! A great way to spend a Saturday."

Lindsay Eckley reviewed: Make a silver ring or bangle

"I got a voucher for a jewellery making day with Lucy at Christmas in 2017, I eventually got round to arranging my course in December 2018. I thoroughly enjoyed it and Lucy is a patient and excellent teacher. I have done silver smithing jewellery making before and the encouragement she gave renewed my interest in taking it up as a hobby. I am extremely proud of what I created with Lucy's guidance, a beautiful robin inspired pendant in silver and copper."

I will definitely be returning with another project to further my skills. I had such an amazing day!"

Dave Walker reviewed: Bladesmithing Experience Day

"Wasn't sure what to expect but I knew the reviews were all positive. Got there early as the course start on time and was welcomed by Graham outside the workshop. The day started with a safety briefing, then straight into it. Hammered hot steel, shaped a knife and then ground down to a usable utility knife, very pleased with the outcome. Throughout the day the instructions were great with some explanation of how and why certain techniques were used. I would highly recommend this course for anyone wishing to get the hands dirty and looking to create their very own knife."

Bernadette Copeland reviewed: Watercolour painting day - Floral & botanical - with artist Laura Andrew

"The day passed very quickly in such inspirational surroundings. To be taught so sensitively by an artist of Laura's calibre was extraordinary. As the group was just the right size, it was easy to get totally individual attention, at the same time as sharing in the experiences of others. A very well-organised day, great fun, with much scope for experimentation. (And I shouldn't forget the cream scone desserts...)"

Jeff Kamen reviewed: Wheel thrown mug workshop

"Fantastic pottery-throwing experience for my 8yr old daughter (and myself!). Our first pottery experience as a birthday present for my daughter - she absolutely loved it and Jack helped us both from start to finish. To see the happiness on her face throughout was priceless. The facilities and environment were perfect. We returned to do the glazing and then again to pick up our finished pieces. I plan for us to go back in a month or two so that we can do it all again. Thanks Jack!!"

Kate Pritchard reviewed: Introduction to making mosaics (Beginner level)

"My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our mosaic workshop with Sally. It was our first attempts at mosaic and Sally was very patient and encouraging throughout the day. All the tools and materials required were supplied on the day. There was a lovely small friendly group of ladies of all abilities and Sally was able to give us all a little help and advise where necessary. Would highly recommend this course with Sally to anyone who is interested in starting out in mosaics or who would just like to have an enjoyable day out doing something different."

Joe Z reviewed: Wood turning courses in the Midlands

"It was a cold morning when I turned up at Mark's workshop, and was greeted by a warm stove, cup of coffee and a really relaxed environment to learn in. From start to finish, Mark's enthusiasm and passion for the craft shone through. He was very patient and great at adapting the day to a varied skill set, speeding up and slowing down his teaching style for the areas that you may or may not know and focusing in on the areas which need more attention. I would highly recommend Mark to anybody who wants to take the time to learn, improve or otherwise just have a go at turning."
