Helen Fryer reviewed: Beginners crochet course - in Trowbridge, Wiltshire

"Myself and 2 friends went to Lynn’s crochet lesson yesterday not really believing that we would leave knowing how to crochet. How wrong we were! Lynn was excellent! We all left having mastered 3 stitch types and all had a little project to take away. I would highly recommend this course and you will never believe how quickly three hours will pass. Both lynn and her husband made us welcome in their home with tea and cake in constant supply. Fabulous afternoon. Thanks Lynn"

Get Hooked with Lynn responded:

"Looking forward to pics of all your makes!!"

Tom Yates-Ijaz reviewed: Small Leather Goods Workshop

"A superb course! Richard was very welcoming and hospitable, with an incredible knowledge of his craft. The workshop was well paced to suit all levels and abilities, and nothing was too much trouble for Richard. The atmosphere was relaxed and the time flew by. I'm delighted with my belt and already it gets regular if not daily use. I can thoroughly recommend the course and will be back to do another very soon!"

Jayne Towndrow reviewed: Introduction to screen printing

"I spent one wintry day in one of Ria’s taster workshops and had a pretty spectacular time. Ria is a fantastic tutor, very knowledgeable, very good at teaching. I was a tad nervous (having most recently completed a bookmaking workshop elsewhere, but where I was absolutely hopeless, and didn’t want to be again), but Ria put me at ease really quickly, allowing creativity to flow. She was skilled at helping us to translate something from our heads into a screen-printed reality. How do you do that, Ria? She was incredibly generous with her time and never rushed us. I left at the end of the day with beautiful screen-printing. And I do mean beautiful. I just love colour and there was colour aplenty. I should also mention that there is a fabulous bijoux café on site and no trouble parking. I was rather sorry I didn’t get a chance to look around the rest of the craft centre because it all looked interesting. I am already planning a return visit."

"If you are looking for a warm welcome with gentle, clear instruction and heaps of encouragement - this day course has it all. Amanda is a lovely person & a brilliant teacher. Her aim is for you to get the most out of your day & to achieve a piece of work you will be proud to call your own. I didn’t want to leave & could have happily stayed for the whole weekend - and I am a total novice to both weaving and going on Day courses. If you are thinking about it - DO IT!"

Amanda Yeman reviewed: Making a mosaic with slate

"This was my second workshop, because I enjoyed the first so much! Rachel is a knowledgeable and patient teacher, and taught and supported the skills needed for all participants to try out different techniques and leave with a beautiful mosaic. There were a huge range of materials available, and the workshop is in a lovely setting, surrounded by beautiful examples of Rachel’s own work for inspiration and examples. Cups of tea and homemade cake were a bonus!"

Stuart White reviewed: One day salt or pepper mill woodturning course one to one.

"I attended the one day pepper mill course with Bill and had a fantastic day. I have never done any wood turning before and have been looking for a course for some time. Bill was very friendly and welcoming and has a style that makes you feel at ease. The work shop is fantastic and really well equipped (including a wood burning stove to keep it nice and warm!). This course is a great way to get an introduction to wood turning and it's nice to come away with something that you've made yourself and will use for years to come. I will definitely be looking to book another day in with Bill in the near future. If you're looking for an introduction to wood turning look no further!"

"The introductory soap making workshop yesterday was a lovely day. We were given lots of information but were never overloaded. We had a chance to see all the different colours and natural essential oils that were available and watch a demonstration before making two batches of our own soap. The day was friendly, well paced, and great fun. I would definitely recommend Catherine and her Herbal Harmony studio to everyone."

bobbie reviewed: Firebird Forge Blacksmithing School

"Received a one day tuition as a Christmas present from my husband, who attended the course too - what can i say? it was awesome, we both thoroughly enjoyed the day and learnt so much. Mort is an excellent tutor and communicator he has an extensive knowledge on the on the history of the craft and teaches you about the types of metal and how to distinguish what type of steel to use. We both made items to take home and are amazed at what you can learn in one day and that is all down to Mort's teaching style which is one of demonstration and stepping in to put you back on track if needed - which of course as absolute beginners we did, a couple of times or so. The downside it goes too fast you are so engrossed in the training the day flies by. But what a great way to spend a day. I definitely want to learn more of this skill and will be putting in birthday present requests too. Would definitely recommend. Thank you Mort, a brilliant day."

Jo Llewellyn reviewed: Stained Glass Weekend for Beginners

"Jude is a very experienced stained glass artist and has a very well equipped studio. It was a pleasure to work with her and be taught the fundamentals about stained glass working. I’m a designer and really enjoyed the mixture between practical skills and designing with the beautiful glass that she had lots of for us to work with. It was a very busy two days and you will need a certain level of dexterity to work with the tools and methods such as glass cutting/ leading/soldering. I thoroughly enjoyed it and plan to go back for another workshop. Jude has a wealth of experience and a very good approach to teaching."

caleb hill reviewed: Stained Glass Weekend for Beginners

"This is a comprehensive and hands-on class covering all the basics of making a leaded glass window panel from start to finish. This includes cutting, grinding, leading, soldering, cementing and polishing the completed panel, which is yours to take home afterwards. Jude is a great teacher and the class is split well over the 2 days. She has an extensive knowledge of the history, methods and materials around stained glass, and has 30 years experience in the industry. One thing to note is that you must work from one of 4 templates for the design of the panel. If you wish to make your own design, I believe she offers a 5 day course, as it can take a considerable amount of time to create a new design and pattern. Overall it was a very enjoyable weekend trying a new medium, and I would definitely look into doing the 5-day course at some stage as well."

Alastair Duncan reviewed: Woodturning courses in Hampshire - Beginners and improvers wood turning courses - Turn British, all British lathes!!

"I recently bought a second hand lathe with no experience on how to use it. I enrolled for a one day course with Andy which was both enjoyable and informative. I came home with my first bowl and also an apple made by Andy as I watched, most importantly I came back with enthusiasm to use the lathe as well as the confidence that so long as I remember what I have been taught I can use it safely. Many thanks Andy and I would certainly recommend anyone else to start with you."

Debbie and John reviewed: Spoon carving beginners course

"My husband and I attended this course in November as we wanted to do something that we both would enjoy. Simon and Nigel greated us on a bright but chilly day in their enclosure at Snelsmore Common with a nice warm fire, hot kettle and more importantly a warm welcome. Nigel took us for most of the day and he freely shared his knoweldge with us so that we both were able to learn the techniques, went away with spoons and wanting to make more. Nigel was also able to suggest adaptations to the techniques for me and the day felt more of a conversation than a class. The spoons that Simon and Nigel make are inspirational. I would recommend the course to anyone who likes the woods and hands on craft as it is a lovely relaxing day. And my christmas present from my husband this year.... a carving set for both of us to use."
