Alex reviewed: Introduction to screen printing

"I took my Mum to Ria's course for her birthday. We had the best day! We really enjoyed learning how to print and Ria was very patient and accommodating of our slightly over ambitious printing ideas! Amongst lots of laughs she managed to guide us to achieve our prints. Also yummy lunch from the cafe . What a fab day!"

Lynette Woodward reviewed: Taster pottery throwing lesson (various dates)

"I did an afternoon taster session and am a complete beginner, having never used a potter’s wheel before. Jack is a great instructor and patiently helped throughout. I managed to throw three reasonable looking pots and would definitely try this again, something completely different! The studio itself is in a lovely location and the home made brownies were delicious."

Julia Dean reviewed: Taster pottery throwing lesson (various dates)

"I booked an afternoon taster as I wanted to have a go at using a pottery wheel. I am very much a beginner but I found an excellent tutor in Jack. He was friendly, knowledgeable and both attentive and calm during the session. I was delighted to make three pots (a little wobbly) and am thinking about returning at some point for the ten week course. I would definitely recommend!"

Janet Oldham reviewed: Beginners Linocut Workshop at Hitchin Lavender Farm, Hertfordshire

"I really enjoyed the workshop. There were plenty of reference materials and previous work there for inspiration. Kim was a great tutor and took the time to help people with very different levels of experience to achieve good results. The only thing I would say is that space was a little bit tight on the printing table when all 8 of us were trying to print but I would definitely do a similar workshop again. The location and gorgeous cake just add to the appeal!"

Ian Old reviewed: Blacksmithing Introduction courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"Decided to do this course as a father and son event. I was expecting to a make a keyring and a single coat hook. After completing the key ring, I was somewhat surprised when Adrian showed the dragon coat triple hook. However, given the excellent support and guidance from Adrian and Andy, I did indeed achieve a triple coat hook. It has been put up in the utility room today. I really enjoyed the day and would recommend it to one and all. No prior experience is needed (I have not worked on metal since first year of secondary school (46 years ago!)) and there is no need for huge biceps. The course was effective, interesting, relaxed and informal. The instructors are very approachable. Student mistakes were corrected easily. The whole day was great fun and passed too quickly. The food/refreshments were very good throughout. Flapjack and biscuits on arrival, chilli and jacket potato, followed by fruit crumble and cheese for lunch and finally, once the course had finished, biscuits, flapjacks and cake. My son has already mentioned coming back for a second course and I may well bring my daughter as well."

Annabel Armstrong reviewed: Mosaic and Glass Art 2 day Course

"I attended this course as a complete beginner and came home with a piece of work which is my pride and joy! Even if you have never done anything like this before, Maggie’s infectious enthusiasm will carry you through. You start off with very basic steps, gradually gain confidence and before you know it you find yourself staring at a mosaic and thinking “I did that!!” Throughout it all Maggie keeps up a stream of chat that will have you in stitches, and there’s a constant supply of food and drink too. What more could you ask?"

Caroline Tough reviewed: Mosaic and Glass Art 2 day Course

"I was very warmly welcomed to the PRM studio. Maggie’s infectious enthusiasm in relation to all things mosaic made me forget the fact that I was very much out of my comfort zone! Maggie took time to ascertain what I wanted to create and supported me to make it happen! She also made the workshop fun! I can’t recommend this course highly enough. I’m over the moon with my giraffe mosaic!"

Pretty Rubbish Mosaics responded:

"Great fun Caroline to work with you . For someone who had no experience or confidence on arrival, it was wonderful to see you become more inventive and creative as the day went on. Your wee giraffe is just great and a real smile maker."

"Paul and Natalie are excellent teachers. The pace and supervision were just right which meant I gained confidence easily. The selection of glasses to work with made me feel like a child in a sweet shop! I’m so pleased with my creation. To top it all, the countryside venue made my day a welcome escape from everything. I’ll be back for more courses and interesting conversation. Highly recommended."

Joan Thraves reviewed: Natural soap & cosmetic products workshop

"The course was a birthday present from my daughter Rosanna, and its one of the best presents in my long life. Julie welcomed us and we were soon making soaps, body butters and all the other lovely products. Julie was very generous with her knowledge and her time and was totally focused on making the day an interesting and productive one, whilst it was still relaxing and fun. We also enjoyed wonderful food at lunchtime and came home with some wonderful products. I feel I have been given a lot of information and learned new skills that will enable me to pursue this further . I definitely hope to come on another course. Thank you from Joan"

Brenda Potter reviewed: Alternative firing - Introduction to Naked Clay Workshop - West Sussex

"Very well planned and delivered course, time was spent very productively and there was plenty of opportunity to ask questions about our individual practice. The firing process was calm and controlled but at the same time exciting, with fascinating results from a number of different raku processes. I learnt an enormous amount, both days were very productive and enjoyable in a convivial atmosphere, helped along by excellent food and good company. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this course to anyone at whatever stage of ceramic enquiry they are at, it really was a treat!"

"Just completed the 2 day workshop. What a warm, welcoming, passionate and inspiring tutor Maggie is. Her workshop and garden are amazing, full of colour and quirky designs. Fantastic lunch and refreshments from Maggie and her husband too, thoroughly recommended."

Michelle Mardall reviewed: Woodturning courses in Hampshire - Beginners and improvers wood turning courses - Turn British, all British lathes!!

"My husband and I did this course with Andy a couple of weeks ago, it was AMAZING! Andy is so knowledgeable about his craft also he is very patient and takes time to show you what to do without making you feel stupid. Neither of us had a clue what to do at the beginning of the day and yet we both had beautiful wood bowls at the end of the day! I simply cannot recommend this course highly enough! I can't wait to do another course with Andy in the future."

Nick Stonier reviewed: Premium experience package dry stone walling for beginners

"I received the course as a surprise gift - and it turned out to be a really great surprise! Carl and Daniel are extremely good teachers (and patient!) and are obviously very skilled at their craft. They took time to get to know everyone on the course and the result was everyone was made to feel part of the team - and the resulting banter was every bit as good as the refreshments. Great weekend guys. Thank you"

Judith Blackburn reviewed: Blacksmithing Introduction courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"My husband and I had been entranced with a beautiful garden bench created by Adrian. Also a swallow sculpture he’d done - both of which we purchased and he installed. I needed to come on a course to appreciate the work and skill, not to mention the creative imagination he puts into his work. I was not disappointed. It’s hard and hot work! All on the course were encouraged throughout by Adrian and Andy. It was such fun with us all comparing efforts throughout the day. Add to this the wonderful food created by Debbie and you have a gem of a day to take away - not only new skills and appreciation, but new friends too. Thank you all."

"Fabulous course. Absolutely loved it. Been now about 4 times. Each time we have picked a picture I am interested in completing and Heather has demonstrated how to complete it as I follow along.
