Helen P Lane reviewed: Ecodyeing - a full day introduction to leaves, rust, heat and fabric alchemy!

"This was a fantastic day from start to finish. Judy was very generous with her time, knowledge, materials and of course her delicious home made butternut squash soup. She showed us lots of samples and clearly explained techniques to help us make decisions on how we placed foliage, if we used an iron blanket and lots more. We came away with several large samples, a silk scarf and a set of gorgeous papers. I can't think of anything to improve the workshop. We really enjoyed our day at Judy's home. I have lots to think about and experiment with at home. Thanks for a brill day."

Judy P. dye - print - weave responded:

"Thanks Helen, I was beginning to think I might change it to Leek and Potato soup. Glad you enjoyed the day. Hope to see you again soon."

"We had a wonderful time at Nicky's workshop! Nicky ensured that we felt so welcome and taught us so much. We will be showing our friends what we made and encouraging them to give it a go! I made a pair of earrings and a ring, and my partner made earrings and a lovely charm bracelet. Nicky is the best teacher, we hold her teaching in the highest regard! :)"

Sian Edge reviewed: One day silver clay course at Gallery in Heswall, Wirral

"Was really looking forward to this course and it did not disappoint! Having never worked with silver clay before I was a little unsure of what I'd come away with, but I was delighted with my pieces at the end of the day. The tuition was excellent and having such a small class was great as George had time to make sure everyone knew what they were doing and kept on track throughout the day. I came away with lots of new ideas and will definitely use this medium again. A great day and excellent value for money, highly recommended!"

Lizzy Moriarty reviewed: Private or private group silver jewellery making/silversmithing workshop day at Silver Designed Personally

"If you are looking for a very knowledgeable, flexible and skilled silver smith, Sara is your person. I had the most lovely day and threw all sorts of problems at Sara and she knew exactly how to resolve them. I have only the most basic silver-smithing experience and Sara was brilliant at showing me techniques and making sure I was on the right track. I even turned up with a scrap of silver that looked like an offensive weapon, it was so sharp; and she helped me make it into a fluid and beautiful bracelet - an iterative process which I really enjoyed. We had happy dogs at our feet all day - Sara and Misty welcomed my lurcher Fiasco and were very accommodating of a rather large dog in their space! We even took the two dogs for a little walk before I headed off with two new bangles and several beautifully polished rings. A day of fascinating conversation, creativity and a sense of achievement, all due to Sara's generosity. I highly recommend this course. Great fun! Thank you Sara!"

Silver Designed Personally responded:

"Wow .... Lizzy thank you so much for your review and very lovely words. You made my day a pleasure too, we chatted over so many things as well as worked and you achieved such lovely bracelets. Fiasco was a delight to have as well, it made a nice change to the day and I know Misty loved the doggy company! I'm really hoping to see you again to make some more wonderful jewellery. Sara"

Sam Meakin reviewed: Footstool making workshop - weekend

"I had the most brilliant two days making my footstool with Jacqueline. She is a great teacher and I can't recommend the course highly enough. It is great to learn in a relaxed manner and to learn the skills to enable you to make a fantastic footstool. Mine takes pride of place and people always ask where I bought it! I think that says it all really. Book on the course you wont regret it and great value for money."

Robin Ranken reviewed: ColourWheel art classes for adults - Maidenhead - Thursday

"I would recommend this course to anyone. Whatever your ability you will be made to feel at home. I love the fact that over the 14 weeks there is an opportunity to learn new skills and learn about different types of media. Most other courses just focus on one. Rene is brilliant at keeping it all together and Inge is inspirational as the tutor. There is great camaraderie within the group and everyone is supportive of each other. I am so pleased to be part of this experience and will book up for another course in the Autumn. Robin"

EMMA-LOUISE VAN DER BLIJ reviewed: ColourWheel art classes for adults - Maidenhead - Thursday

"It was truly by chance and total curiosity that I and a friend came across ColourWheel. The reception we received was with a warm and inviting smile and we immediately were made most welcome. It was a natural step then that I joined. This is now my 2nd year, and every week I can't wait to come to our class - the 3 hours go by so quickly!!! Renee is a fantastic organiser, always friendly and helpful and is right beside you to give you what you need even before you know yourself what you need! My teacher is Inge - what a teacher she is - wow!! Always encouraging, always seeing the artist in you and never lets you think your work is "rubbish". All the other students - many of them so much more advanced in talent - are also most encouraging of each other's work making the class more like a "family and friends" gathering. I would certainly encourage anyone who wants to start, or improve, or continue to draw or paint to join ColourWheel - I have tried quite a few before, but ColourWheel is the one. As well - you get all the materials / everything supplied - all you need to bring is just yourself. What a treat!"

John Roberts reviewed: Learn to turn in Snowdonia, North Wales - Full day

"Les is very welcoming and put's you at ease. Les is very patient and knowledgeable, with his guidance I was able to make a lidded box, Xmas tree bauble, and a small Xmas tree, these items were what I had asked Les to try to make. I already have orders for 15 of the Xmas trees, so I am going to be busy for awhile. If there are any budding wood turner's out there it would be money well spent on a lesson with Les. Thank you Les on a very enjoyable day. Yours Xmas tree John."

Pren responded:

"Ha ha! We had a bit of fun, John.....'twas a good day and I do hope that Grace liked the box."

Heather Mclain reviewed: Private jewellery tuition with Joanne Tinley Jewellery

"My 16 year old son who has decided this is the career for him, recently had a two day private course with Joanne. She was so helpful and accommodating finding a time to fit him in out of term time and before exams. I cannot thank her enough. He had the most fantastic time and gained so much experience during his short time with her. Her generosity of knowledge and experience is amazing and her teaching skills are excellent. They covered such a range of techniques and he had constant hands on experiences. It has given him the confidence and belief that he can do it and he is very keen to do another course soon. Can't recommend Joanne Tinley highly enough. Thank you Jo"

Joanne Tinley Jewellery responded:

"Thank you for such a lovely review Heather! It was great to spend the time with Alex, and a priviledge to help him get started in this wonderful craft! I was very impressed with his attention to detail, and delighted with the chain that he made. I'd be very happy to have him back in the studio."

"I enrolled my 13 year old granddaughter on this course with Shirley to encourage her to improve and learn. Carys has enjoyed this, her second workshop, and made the comment that the day had gone really quickly, which says it all. With Shirley's guidance she produced a very nice landscape. Thank you so much Shirley."

Miranda Cowan reviewed: Beginners spoon carving course

"A great tutor that brings a clear and progressive structure to the course and is enthusiastic with a very calm and supportive approach to teaching. I really liked how we also covered supporting information relating to how to sharpen knives and the follow up hand outs. I now have new techniques to practice and am looking forward to recording my own progress and sharing my photos with Steve."

Jan Brown reviewed: Winter Woodland beauty- natural cosmetic making from woodland plants and trees

"A fantastic day - well it did start with cakes! We made a range of soaps, some from scratch then were able to create a variety of products of our individual choice (my son loves the blues busting beard wax and the energising beard oil, I’m finding the joint cream very good). Rachel is a great instructor, she gave us lots of information and recipes, guided us when we needed it and let us get on when we felt confident to do so. By the end of the day we all had a huge range of products and felt we’d learned a lot, I’m definitely going to start making my own herb infused oils and trying more of Rachel’s recipes."

david bolland reviewed: Furniture upcycling workshop - 1 day

"I absolutely loved the upcycling furniture workshop. It was perfectly paced, inspirational and I learned loads. Hannah is very patient and thorough and the small group style works very well. I arrived with a tatty, barely varnished stool and left with one that was completely transformed. I`ve got the bug now! Thank-you Hannah and Reloved Works."

Tread Softly responded:

"Aw thanks David, what a lovely review ? It was really great meeting you, thanks for coming all that way. I am so pleased you enjoyed the day. I loved your stool design and your attention to detail. Hopefully you will go on to create many more upcycled creations ?"

Chris reviewed: Turn a wooden bowl on a traditional pole lathe

"I had the pleasure of attending this course recently. I'd never done anything like this before and hadn't worked with wood since woodworking class at school! Steve was very friendly and talkative, full of knowledge and his passion for the craft showed. I was fascinated by the stories and facts that he shared and by the whole process of making a wooden bowl out of a seemingly unremarkable log. I saw my skill with an axe go from zero, to almost competent and I managed to take a small gouge out of my finger (my own fault, the tools are sharp!), but it was worth every moment. Ironically, the little wooden bowl I came away with is now not only the most expensive bowl I own, but one of my most cherished possessions! I can't wait to get some walnut oil on it! I've already recommended the course to a few friends, I'd recommend it to anybody Thanks again Steve"

Anna Liebmann reviewed: Woven hazel backpack with handmade rope straps

"How amazing to be able to make a basket from a few rods of Hazel. Lorna patiently showed us the different ways to approach splitting the hazel rods, over our knees or on a horse (?) and dressing our strips with knives into weavable lengths. She also helped us a lot by making strips for us if ours weren't good enough. The rope machine is a great thing to behold- I was too engrossed in my weaving to try it out which I regret! I'm so glad to have learnt how to split the hazel to work with and hope to practise further and take the skill on with me in my work. The resulting baskets from all who went on the course with me were absolutely gorgeous, we were all very proud and grateful. Thankyou Lorna!"

Emma Turner reviewed: Fused Glass - Taster

"My Mam and I recently attended a taster workshop with Julie - it was brilliant. Julie is just a wonderful teacher, providing guidance and instruction where needed & really encouraging you to get your crafty/arty side going! I really loved that the workshop was just my Mam and I as it was given as a gift, so it was lovely to have some quality time together. We both made coasters and with Julie's kind guidance, they have all turned out super well and we are really pleased with them. In terms of materials available, Julie has it all which really kick started our imaginations. Honestly cannot recommend Julie and her workshops more highly."
