Weave A Shawl Weekend - With yarn spun for you

X

Description

A relaxing, creative two days for complete beginners - Available for personal on to one tuition, or come with your friends or family. Arrive to a peaceful weaving workshop in the beautiful Welsh hills, to a collection of yarns and art yarns handspun especially for you to work from when making your shawl, in the colours you love, and hand dyed yarns too, all packaged together for you to open when you get here. Either learn how to warp a rigid heddle loom, and set it up yourself before weaving, or I can set it all up for you if you'd just love to relax and go straight to the fun weaving. Learn how to work with your special yarns to create your own unique heirloom shawl, learning the techniques of plain weave, clasped weft, trapped textures, looping, hemstitch and finishing. The price includes all of the yarns to make your shawl with, tuition and guidance, and plenty of weaving time for you to take it at your own pace. Finish the weekend with a session on hand finishing your shawl, and setting the weave, and the delight of seeing your own cloth coming off the loom. The size of your whole finished shawl will be approximately 180 x 35 cms. (There is an upgrade option if you would like to make a bigger blanket, which would need extra weaving time and yarns to make. Message me for more info if you would like to have extra days of weaving). There is a beautiful farm cottage on site here for you to book for your weekend if you wish (it can be mid week if you prefer). The cottage is located next to the studio. If you fall in love with hand weaving, and would love to take home your own loom, we have Ashford looms and other equipment available in the shop, as well as yarns and handmade tools.

What's included in the price?

Tuition and guidance. All handspun yarns, art yarns, and hand dyed yarns. Equipment to use during the two days. Tea and biscuits. If you book to stay at the farm cottage, it is fully equipped for self catering, there are also local cafes and restaurants. If you are coming as a day visitor, please bring along packed lunches.
