Two day Residential 'Enchanted Woodland' Wet Felting Course

Two and a half days (consecutive) structured wet felt making residential course to make a 'Enchanted Woodland" wall hanging completed with hand embroidery and needle felted details. Dates Thursday 18th arrival from 1pm - Saturday 20th September evening The course will be held at Bottoms Farm in Walsden near Todmorden in West Yorkshire at a retreat centre as shown in the photographs. It's for a maximum of seven people. It will be run by highly experienced fibre artist and tutor Josephine Gornall. The price is for the two and a half day course - all tuition, materials and use of equipment. It includes accommodation choose from a shared twin room (price is per person) 2 x single and 1 double ensuite as listed in the booking form. All meals are included apart from on the Friday night when we will be have a choice of locally or bought in. Summary of the 'Enchanted Woodland" course: You will be able to make an 'Enchanted Woodland’ scene. In this fully guided two and a half day course ideal for beginners and improvers. We will choose from a large selection of wool and plant fibres to make your woodland scene. It will then be wet felted and embellished with needle felting and stitch into a fully finished large picture (approx 40x40cm) similar to the ones pictured ready for framing or hung on the wall. Examples of woodlands are shown in the photographs. Running order of the two and a half day course: Day One Afternoon: Arrival from 1pm for welcome hot drinks, cake and fruit Make a small needle felted picture and practise felting techniques, or just enjoy your surroundings ready to start the wet felted Woodland wall hanging the next day. Day Two 10.30 - 5pm approx: Full instructions, demonstration and step by step guidance on how to create the felted woodland scene onto your (provided) wool background. How to lay out your wool fibres, choosing and blending colours, using a range of wool and some plant fibres to build up the picture. Information on how different wool and plant fibres felt together. Followed by step-by-step instructions on how to wet felt it all together. Day Three: 10.30 - 4pm approx: Embellishment of your now dry felted picture using needle felting techniques and hand embroidery to create textures, flowers, wildlife, etc. Plus tips and ideas for mounting your completed felted picture at a later stage ready for framing or display as a wall hanging. Please note that this is a two and a half day course but only day 1 shows as available in the calendar. Just book a place on this date, and it will include the full 2.5 day course. This is a two and a half day residential course for up to 7 people in West Yorkshire. The price includes all tuition, materials and use of equipment. Plus Accommodation in the main house also pictured and meals as outlined below. Meals/food included: Welcome tea/coffee, cake & fruit on arrival 2 x self serve breakfasts, 2 x shared lunches 1 x meal out next door on the first evening. I'm Josephine a fibre and mixed media artist and tutor with over 20 years experience of all aspects of wet and dry (needle) felt-making . I have my own studio as part of an artists community in Fletchers Mill, Dean Clough in Halifax, West Yorkshire where I run a wide choice of fun, relaxing felt making and needle felting workshops using a vast colourful selection of materials. I have been a designer then a lecturer. For several years a community artist. I have delivered and managed celebratory and public arts projects creating wall hangings, costumes, murals, lanterns, mosaics within Schools, and the wider community.
