Description

In this 3-day session, up to 4 people will make their own longsword from start to finish. You will be given an introduction to safety and the use of the coke forges and tools. Then, you'll learn the basics of fire management and heating. Matt will then demonstrate and guide you on your own forge and anvil step by step on how to forge a blade, cross guard, pommel, make a handle, harden and temper, grind, and assemble all the pieces for you to take home and enjoy your very own longsword! The blades will be made from EN45 spring steel, hardened and tempered. These make very forgiving, excellent sword blades. It is advisable to have some prior experience in metalworking by taking another introductory course before embarking on this course. like our 1-day introductory knife course, however, beginners can still do it, and we will help you get the job done if needed. This course starts on a Wednesday morning at 8:30 and ends on Friday at 5:30 pm, and we will accommodate any last-minute help to ensure you can go home with a fitted sword. or if you'd prefer to spend more time fettling your components before assembly, you can book an additional day with us to come back and finish up. Accommodation can be arranged nearby if needed. Please get in touch button for further details. this course is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18 if you have any other questions about the course, please get in touch
