£65 per adult & child pairing (includes clear glazing & firing of 2 pots) We often get asked about running parties for children to try wheel throwing or for kids wheel throwing classes but in all honesty, throwing a pot can be tricky, really quite physical and frequently can lead to disappointment. After much consideration we think that a class for an adult plus child is the best way for us to be able to give your younger ones a chance to try the wheel in a time frame that isn't too long for them but also most importantly that doesn't end up with a lot of sad faces at the end of the class! In this really fun 1 and a half hour session, under the expert guidance of our expert ceramics teacher, Andrea you and your child will be taken through the basic skills needed to throw on the wheel, such as clay preparation, centring the clay and pulling up a cylindrical shape (a key part of throwing as this is the basis for most wheel thrown ceramic pieces). Each pair will be working at their own wheel so that they can have maximum throwing time rather than having to share with people they don't know. Included in the price is also the opportunity for each pair to have 2 of the pots they've made during the course clear glazed and fired. PLEASE NOTE - This class is for one adult + child pairing and it is our expectation that the adult will be spending time with the child... it is not one of those classes where you can drop your child and sit quietly whilst we look after them! As a guide we would recommend that this class is suitable for children aged over 8yrs (KS2+) but obviously you know your own child best!
