Description
In this summer evening crafting session with artist and experienced tutor Sophie Boyce, you’ll learn how to make two small handmade stamps, one from lino and a second from foam block. These stamps can then be used for many creative projects including card making and decorating book covers. During the class you’ll be guided through the processes of transferring your image onto a small piece of lino or foam and shown how to mount your block for stamping. You’ll also learn about different types of inks and have the opportunity to experiment with printing onto a selection of paper types. At the end of the evening you’ll have two wonderful stamps to take home and continue creating with! All tools and materials are provided, including a range of different papers, but do feel free to bring any surfaces of your own that you would like to print onto. Please bring an apron with you and one or two small single colour designs (up to 4.5 x 5.5 cm in size) that you’d like to create a stamped image from. Don’t worry though, as we’ll bring some inspiration to work from if you don’t have any immediate ideas! We’ll also give you wine, juice or hot drinks to help your crafting along. This workshop is suitable for both beginners and also people with some prior knowledge of printmaking. Sophie Boyce has a BA in Graphic Design & Illustration and an MA in Printmaking from UAL and is a practicing printmaker, artist and teacher.
