Wednesday Evenings Date: 10th, 17th September, 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd October 2025. Time: 6pm – 8.30pm This six-week course will introduce you to the foundational skills of jewellery making and silversmithing! Learn the basics of jewellery making in these consecutive weekly classes and build up your skills and confidence over time. This course caters for the complete novice who is completely new to the industry and ready to begin their jewellery journey. In these classes, you will learn about the basic material quality of metal and the tools required for jewellery making, as well as being shown how to use them in a safe and proper manner. You’ll be briefed on the techniques that are needed to get you through the beginnings of jewellery making including sawing, mark making, soldering and chain-making. Here at the School we are experienced enough to understand that learning to make jewellery is a skill which needs building. With careful tuition and one to one attention throughout the classes, each student gets to learn and practice specific techniques in each of our block of courses rather than cramming everything in to a few hours. All our tutors are experienced professional jewellery designers who have worked in the creative industries, taught at universities and who have exhibited and made work for clients internationally. We believe strongly in providing a fun but safe and professional learning experience where your skills will grow at your own pace and your achievements will be celebrated in a friendly and nurturing environment! The block is split into two, with the first three weeks spent learning these introductory jewellery techniques, and then for the final three weeks you will be supported in making your own piece of jewellery or small collection! You then have the option to move onto our Mixed Abilities class or even take a specialist class later on in the year.
What's included in the price?
The price of materials for the first three weeks of learning and experimentation are included in the class price. In the final three weeks you can order silver to make your final piece with from the school for a small fee. Refreshments are also provided!
