Sculpture in a Day - Stone carving in Oxfordshire

!! Only one space left for 2025 !! Learn the skills involved in carving stone in a day's workshop. You make and take home a piece of your own for home or garden. Each class is for a maximum of six adults. Classes are held in the stunning parkland surroundings of Cokethorpe School, Witney. You keep whatever you make, and I guarantee that in that time you will be able to produce a finished piece to your own design (or mine, if you need inspiration). You don't need to think of yourself as 'artistic' to produce something really worthwhile - all the examples here were made by complete beginners in one day. Many more examples and feedback from former guests available on my website. Dates are available in late Spring, Summer and early Autumn, or by negotiation for a full group but are selling out fast. Fancy hosting? Sculpture-in-a-day on tour comes to you. You provide a suitable outdoor space. I bring everything for the course. What's included in the price?

All materials, tools, tuition - and regular hot drinks and biscuits! We use Maltese limestone. You are provided with a small practice stone and a block approx 18x18x13cm for your day's sculpture.

Hi, I'm David, a sculptor in stone. I've been offering Sculpture-in-a-Day courses to small groups since 2017. I was a full time teacher of art and science for over 30 years. I offer stone carving courses at weekends in late Spring, Summer and early Autumn in a beautiful open-air venue in Oxfordshire. You need no artistic ability and no experience - I promise you that you'll be delighted with what you produce! There are lots of examples of my clients' work on my website if you're looking for inspiration. I'll also do Sculpture-on-a-Day in your garden for your own group - contact me to discuss this. You could use CraftCourses to pay or part-pay for this. I sell my own work through my website and through exhibitions at various times in the year.
