Now’s your chance to explore pyrography (wood burning) in a relaxed, step-by-step workshop designed especially for beginners — no experience or drawing skills needed! You’ll learn: 🔧 How to safely hold and use pyrography tools 🌀 How to create a variety of marks and textures 🌗 How to add tonal depth using shading techniques You’ll then put your new skills into practice by creating beautiful, custom designs on: 🌳 A large wooden slice 🔪 A wooden chopping board ☕ A small wooden coaster We'll guide you through experimenting with scale, composition, and design transfer (inspiration images will be provided, but you're welcome to bring your own ideas too). Once you’ve completed your artwork, you’ll have the option to seal it with varnish and even add a splash of colour using pencils or specialist tools. Dr Helen Jones has 14 years art teaching experience. Helen achieved a 1st Class honours in Fine Art and continues to be a practicing Artist from her home studio in Chester. She completed an MA in Art Education and then completed a Doctorate in the subject. She has delivered adult art workshops nationally and offers regular art classes and workshops in Chester through her small business The Art Doctor UK founded in 2021. Helen has also taught art in Tuscany, the Congo, Rome and Finland. She has a warm and encouraging nature.
