Description
Felt making workshop! Barbara has many years of experience in teaching all areas of felt making, and demonstrates the techniques so that even the absolute beginner can achieve a fabulous piece of art to take home. Wet felting is a technique for binding wool roving/fibres together. Barbara encourages you to be experimental, and add gorgeous fibres such as alpaca, silks, hemp, and even husky hair. She recommends starting with creating a picture, but any of the techniques below are achievable with a bit more skill and effort. What will I learn? You will learn how to blend your colours and fibres like an artist mixes paints and incorporate a selection of alpaca, Wensleydale curly tops and silky shimmers to enhance your piece of art. What will I make? You can use the technique to make a landscape picture, cosy slippers, bag, a bowl, scarf OR even a felted upholstered footstool. IMPORTANT: PLEASE CHOOSE ONE FROM BELOW AND MESSAGE BARBARA (via the 'message the tutor' button) YOUR CHOICE ON BOOKING. - Landscape picture: Bring a selection of images for inspiration. Your picture will look amazing framed, a frame can be purchased from Barbara (subject to size and availability). - Bag, or bowl: These use a similar method to create a 3D piece in the shape of warm slippers or a bag. - Slipper- Cosy toes slippers. they are fitted to your feet and do not have a leather sole. this could be purchased offline - additional charge of £5 for slippers- paid on the day. - Vessels and bowls. - Footstool: The small footstool has an additional cost of £17 and Barbara will have this made to order but needs 1 weeks notice. You will upholster this in the lesson with your felt design. Size: approx. 10''x10'' x 2'' deep - with small block feet. Barbara has taught upholstery so this will be done correctly.
