2-day mosaic workshops in West London

Description

This two-day workshop is perfect for beginners to really get your teeth into learning the basic skills of mosaic making: using the tools, cutting glass and ceramic, making a design, laying the pieces, sticking and grouting. Over the two days you could expect to make something roughly A4 size ish - a wall panel, a useful trivet, a little mirror or some coasters, for example or you can choose from other shapes I have - birds, fish, hexagons, circles etc,. There will be lot of materials to play with and lots of books and ideas to give you inspiration, pens, tracing paper, carbon paper, etc, but if you have some ideas do bring them along too. Students with previous experience are also very welcome to work on more advanced projects with guidance and supervision.

What's included in the price?

All tools and materials are included - a huge selection of glass, porcelain, ceramic and bases to work on - and all safety equipment is provided. Tea and coffee are available throughout the day, and there are a couple of cafés close by for lunch/take-away sandwiches, etc. There is a seating area at the centre if you wish to bring your own packed lunch. Free parking at the centre.

"It was the first time I’d ever done a mosaic course. Sarah’s excellent guidance & instructions were easy to follow. I was soon engrossed in a project for my garden. Sarah had a huge variety of tiles, porcelain, pebbles & glass to choose from. Throughout the course I truly appreciated Sarah checking how I was getting on & giving tips. The group felt very relaxed & friendly. I couldn’t believe how quickly I got the knack of how to mosaic. Sarah also gave a handout so we could continue at home. "I attended Sarah's two day weekend Mosaics course 25/26 March 2023 as a complete beginner. I walked in to being very impressed by how organised Sarah was and her vast choice of materials. Sarah is a brilliant teacher and was so encouraging, making sure everyone had enough of her time and starting completely from the beginning for those who needed it. I decided, somewhat ambitiously, to make a turtle trivet and Sarah drew the basic outline of the turtle for me when I was struggling. I am so looking forward to my next project with the knowledge I now have and have booked another course with Sarah later in the year. "I initially took part in this Mosaic weekend as a gift from my daughter and I totally loved it! So much so I did a second weekend. Sarah makes you very welcome. The setting is so relaxed. There is a wide range of resources to choose from and I came away with two wall plaques/decorations that I feel very proud of. I also took my own mirror frame to decorate. There is such a wide range of tiles and resources to choose from and all the tools you need. Sarah explains all the techniques in a clear and friendly manner with lots of support as you create your individual pieces. You are also sent home with some very useful printed instructions to reinforce and develop your creativity at home. If you would like to learn about Mosaics as a new skill or to reinforce your knowledge Sarah's weekend is the one! "

"I attended Sarah's course in October 2019 and loved every minute of it. There were a huge choice of materials to choose from and Sarah's expert guidance was great. Within no time at all I was cutting my own tiles and with Sarah's help assembling them. I chose to make a kitchen trivet which only took 1 day. Other people were attempting more ambitious projects but I liked the fact that I had something ready to take home. The next day I started to make a house number plate and we were allowed to take home enough materials to finish projects at home including the grout. It was also great meeting other people - everyone was very friendly and chatty and it was a really relaxing experience. Sarah is a great teacher and went to great lengths to make sure everyone was happy with their projects. Would recommend."
