Making jewellery with silver metal clay (beginners)
Description
Discover the magic of silver metal clay – an amazing material that lets you create real silver jewellery with just your hands and a small torch! Ready to try a bit of modern alchemy? This one-day workshop is all about exploring silver metal clay – a fascinating, eco-friendly material made from 100% recycled silver (reclaimed from things like X-rays and photo processing), combined with an organic binder and water. It handles like soft clay but, once fired, transforms into solid fine silver. It’s genuinely magical stuff! Perfect for beginners, this class gives you a chance to learn a bunch of new techniques and get stuck into a day of creative making. Metal clay is especially great if you want to continue at home – it’s low-cost, doesn’t require lots of tools, and is gentler on the hands than traditional jewellery techniques. What you’ll learn: - How to roll and shape your clay evenly. - Texturing and cutting out shapes. - Creating moulds for charms. - Basic stone setting. - Torch firing (plus intro to kiln firing). - Sanding and finishing your silver jewellery. We’ll guide you through three fun projects: ✨ A stone-set pendant. ✨ A silver charm using your own mould. ✨ A simple pair of earrings. There’s lots of flexibility to add your own creative flair, and by the end of the day you’ll leave with a set of finished silver pieces and the confidence to carry on making at home. All materials are included, along with tools, safety gear and detailed class notes. We’ll keep you topped up with tea, coffee and luxury biscuits throughout the day too – obviously. Class runs 10am–5pm, with a relaxed hour for lunch. You’re welcome to bring a packed lunch or grab something nearby. We keep group sizes small (max 8 students) to make sure everyone gets plenty of individual support from our lovely expert tutors – who are friendly, knowledgeable, and just as excited about your jewellery as you are. Got questions? Just drop us a message – we’d love to help. We can’t wait to see what you create!
