Leaded Stained Glass - Two Day

X

Description

Join us for this two morning, hands-on workshop where you'll learn the beautiful and time-honoured craft of stained glass making. Using the traditional leaded technique - most commonly seen in church windows - you’ll create your own stunning stained glass panel from start to finish. What You’ll Learn: How to safely and accurately cut glass to fit a pre-designed template. How to use a grinder to refine the shape of each piece for a perfect fit. How to assemble your design using lead came - the strips of lead that hold each piece of glass together. How to master the art of soldering to securely join the lead framework. How to apply specialised cement to reinforce and weatherproof your panel, ensuring durability. Your Finished Piece: At the end of the workshop, you'll take home a beautifully handcrafted stained glass panel measuring approximately 20cm x 20cm, ready to be displayed in a window or framed as a unique work of art. A variety of templates will be available, allowing you to choose a design that speaks to you. Come and discover the magic of working with glass, and leave with a stunning handmade piece to treasure. Only 20 mins from Tunbridge Wells, East Grinstead, Edenbridge, Uckfield and Crowborough, our Studio is in a beautiful converted Oast with exposed beams and gentle views across the farmland.  Filled with mouth-watering aromas from The Oast Bakery, where Alison prepares our delicious refreshments, this is the perfect place to escape the pressures of daily life and enjoy some creative time for yourself.  Our aim is to offer the chance to unwind, learn a new skill and meet like minded people whilst enjoying a cuppa and a slice of cake. "Beautiful setting for a thoroughly enjoyable stained glass course. Learning new skills and techniques with Debbie the tutor who was very knowledgeable and helpful. My initial fears of being out of my comfort zone were soon dismissed. There was a good selection of designs and glass to choose from and a small group of 6 made it a relaxing course. Thank you to Debby and everyone at The Oast Studio." HELEN

The Oast Studio was started in 2021, as the COVID restrictions came to an end and we realised there was a need and a demand for people to come and spend time crafting together. We paired together our love of food and sewing and The Oast Studio was created! We now offer over 80 different craft and sewing classes from Needle Felting & Basket Weaving to Sewing & Painting. With freshly baked treats at every class plus home cooked lunches at all our full day courses.
