The session will provide those new to the craft with guidance and advice to help them get started and Fenner will also share some helpful tips and tricks from his experience working with leather that may prove useful to beginners and those with some previous leatherwork experience. This introductory talk and demonstration session covers a variety of topics suited to beginners, starting with an overview of the main types of leather as well as suggestions on selecting leather. Demonstrations of the core practical leathercraft skills will include: marking out, cutting leather, setting rivets, hand sewing leather (saddle stitch) and edge burnishing/finishing. Fenner began working with leather in 2007, while at university, following a personal quest to make himself a leather notebook cover of a quality and aesthetic that he was unable to find elsewhere. Alongside studying architecture to Master's level and later working in professional architectural practice Fenner honed his craft, developing his brand's values and aesthetic style.
