Fused Glass Art For Your Home for Beginners and all levels
Description
Create your own freestanding glass art on this half-day workshop for beginners and those with some glass fusing experience. "Just superb, thank you Mike & Jenny - a wonderful introduction to crafting for me. " - Jayne On this new workshop you'll discover how to create beautiful, textured fused glass art for your home, combining coloured glass, enamel pens, glass frit, crushed coloured glass, murrini and stringers. This workshop is suitable for beginners, but If you've already enjoyed learning the basics of glass fusing on one of our beginner's classes, this is a great next step up for your new fused glass hobby. Tack-fusing involves fusing layers of specially cut glass shapes, frits and powders and stringers on to a base to form your design. The pieces are fired at a lower temperature than for a fully fused piece, resulting in a piece of fused art with beautiful texture! This class will equip you to create your own fused glass designs, and teach you more sophisticated fused glass construction techniques. We'll ask you to do some research, and if possible, some design sketches before the class so you'll get maximum benefit from your time with us. We'll provide guidance on this, if needed. Your design may include shaped sections of coloured glass - in which case we'll teach you basic glass cutting as well. The starting point for projects on this class is a base layer of COE 90 clear fusible glass, 30cm in diameter, already cut for you. You'll cut sections of coloured glass, place frit and other materials and build up your piece. Once your piece is ready for the kiln, we'll fire it and mount it in its wooden stand (included in the price) and let you know when it's ready for collection. What attendees have said about our classes: "This was my first taste of working with glass...absolutley loved it." "Very informative. Small class so lots of one-to-one. Lovely, lovely results."
