Our Flower and Foliage Casting workshop invites you to explore the enchanting process of transforming botanical specimens into exquisite cast plaques. This immersive workshop is perfect for artists, crafters, gardeners, and all those inspired by the wonders of the natural world. What You Will Learn Introduction to Botanical Casting: Understand the history and fundamentals of casting flowers and foliage, and discover the artists who pioneered this unique art form. Materials and Tools: Get to know the different casting materials available. Learn about essential tools and how to use them safely and effectively. Specimen Selection and Preparation: Identify suitable flowers and foliage for casting. Discover techniques for pressing, drying, or treating your specimens to enhance detail and durability. Mould-Making Techniques: Practise building moulds out of clay that capture the intricate textures and forms of your chosen botanicals. Casting Methods: Pour your first cast and learn how to mix and handle casting media. Develop confidence in working with plaster. Finishing Touches: Transform your castings into artworks with painting, gilding, patination, or mounting. Experiment with finishes that highlight natural textures and veins. This workshop is for beginners or those that are already on their ceramic journey. 30th August 2025 2-5pm £45 including all materials. There will be refreshments included throughout the workshop.
