Welcome to the Paper Peony Workshop! This workshop will focus on the beautiful peony, a flower that's perfect for those who want to take their paper flower-making skills to the next level. These gorgeous flowers will brighten up your home and last forever. We will start by making the intricate centre of the flower and then build it up to create both full and less full versions of the flower. To achieve a more realistic look, we will be working with pre-hand-dyed crepe paper and using paint, markers, and pastels to add highlights to the flower. During the workshop, we will make two flowers and explore various techniques on how to layer large flowers with lots of petals. Additionally, I will be teaching you how to create leaves to add more authenticity to your flowers. By the end of the workshop, you will have created two beautiful peonies and will have materials to take home to make a few more. This workshop is perfect for those who have already tried making crepe paper flowers and want to improve their skills. It's also suitable for beginners who have nimble fingers and are eager to learn a new skill. It is very relaxing and enormously satisfying when you see your flowers evolve. Only 20 mins from Tunbridge Wells, East Grinstead, Edenbridge, Uckfield and Crowborough, our Studio is in a beautiful converted Oast with exposed beams and gentle views across the farmland.  Filled with mouth-watering aromas from The Oast Bakery, where Alison prepares our delicious refreshments, this is the perfect place to escape the pressures of daily life and enjoy some creative time for yourself.  Our aim is to offer the chance to unwind, learn a new skill and meet like minded people whilst enjoying a cuppa and a slice of cake. Alternatively, once the course is fully booked, we can attempt to resell your spot through our database and social media. If we are successful, we can either issue a refund (minus a 10% administration fee) or offer you a place on an alternative course, subject to availability.

The Oast Studio was started in 2021, as the COVID restrictions came to an end and we realised there was a need and a demand for people to come and spend time crafting together. We paired together our love of food and sewing and The Oast Studio was created! We now offer over 80 different craft and sewing classes from Needle Felting & Basket Weaving to Sewing & Painting. With freshly baked treats at every class plus home cooked lunches at all our full day courses.
