Description

Ever wanted to learn how to make your own felt hat? Whether you're a complete beginner looking to pick up a new skill, someone with a bit of experience wanting to refine your technique, or even considering a creative career shift—this course is for you! On this two-day felt hat course you will learn how to block, shape and manipulate wool felt. You can choose to block a hat such as Fedora, Trilby, boater or any other hat style of your choice. You will learn all basics of hat making - how to stiffen the felt, steam and stretch over a wooden hat block, how to curve a petersham ribbon and invisibly stitch into your hat. After blocking a hat you will proceed onto learning trimming and decorating. By the end of the course you will gain invaluable millinery skills that will allow you to make hats on your own and leave with a finished hat you created yourself. Maximum 3 students per class, this allows more personal attention and dedication to each student. Flexible booking dates and times. This workshop is suitable for beginners and intermediates. Please note: the steps and curriculum of the course may vary depending on the hat design/materials chosen by every individual student. The course duration is up to 3 hours each day.
