Steve and Helen Brompton reviewed: Kate Morrell willow sculpture courses

"I booked the day as a surprise 9th wedding anniversary present for my wife. I wouldn't describe either of us as 'crafty' in any way, so we were both a little nervous on the day. Kate and her partner could not have been more welcoming or helpful. We had a great day, great fun in a lovely house with copious amounts of food and drink. Best of all we made our wedding anniversary gifts for each other (even though my attempt was, frankly, pathetic and had to rescuedby Kate). So, we none crafters are looking at a return visit in the summer, a thoroughly memorable day and well worth a try."

"By happy accident (for me) I was the only participant on the course so had extra special tuition from Kate throughout the day. She is very knowledgeable and creative, offering hands on support and advice to help me make a wonderful - if rather large - heron. As I had not worked with willow much beforehand I was uncertain as to what I would be able to achieve, but I was delighted with the end result! Kate and Dave were very friendly and welcoming, with plenty of refreshments available during the day - although I didn't really want to stop! I have no hesitation in recommending this course to others."

Sue & Kev Hopkins reviewed: Kate Morrell willow sculpture courses

"We have never worked with willow before so it was an absolute new beginning for us both. Kate was extremely welcoming and we decided to make a pair of herons. She is an incredible artist having seen some of her paintings and willow animals that she has made. Quite a lot of the time we were in absolute silence with concentration, then laughed. What a brilliant day which went far to fast. We had a very pleasant light lunch provided by Kate (prepared by Dave, thank you Dave) but we were just so keen to get back to the heron making. Before we knew it it was time to go. This course has inspired us and we would recommend the course especially if you have never tackled this before. Kate as an excellent teacher and a very nice person. Thank you so very much Kate."

"I had the most wonderful time willow weaving! Kate is extremely helpful and friendly. I made a willow duck and have received many compliments for it! Kate was very flexible and would accommodate for the sculpture you were interested in making. There were plenty of teas and coffees and even some yummy cakes provided throughout the day. A lovely lunch was also provided and vegetarians were catered for. I would recommend anybody who's interested in willow weaving sculptures to give this a go! I thoroughly enjoyed my day outdoors willow weaving. Thanks again Kate!"

"I have just spent a fantastic day with Kate, sat in her lovely garden learning how to make willow sculptures. Kate is an excellent teacher and showed us how to start the construction process and guided me so that I could achieve what I wanted. Kate and Dave ( and Borris and Bertie) were wonderful hosts keeping us supplied with tea and coffee and biscuits, even though we were concentrating so much we sometimes forgot to drink! We were also given a lovely lunch followed by cakes. I managed to make a running hare, which just about fitted in the boot and finished his ears and tail at home. There were three of us on the course and Kate helped us all to make a sculpture each, I would recommend this to anyone interested in trying this craft, you will be amazed at what Kate will help you create."

"I had a brilliant day working with Kate making my willow donkey (Derek), the day was very relaxed and in a lovely setting. Kate is an incredibly talented artist , with a calm and supportive approach ,so I was able to understand the concept of proportion and depth ( not just a wonky donkey with stick legs!), it was probably a big expectation for a one day course on my part, but Kate talked me through the finishing touches and gave me the materials to carry on. A lovely lunch, tea, coffee and cakes were also provided throughout the day, thank you Dave. I would recommend anybody who's interested in willow weaving sculptures to enrol on the course and a big thank you to Kate for all your input and for being able to share the day with your wonderful animals."
