Sue reviewed: Felt picture making workshop in Rugby!

"This workshop was bought for me as a birthday present and postponed because of lockdowns so we finally enjoyed it yesterday! The venue in Rugby is easy to find and in a beautiful barn with lots of natural light and good facilities. Karen is enthusiastic and great at encouraging and supporting creativity and the trying of new techniques. The materials provided enabled me to produce a felted landscape that I know I will enjoy adding to with machine and hand embroidery to complete a work that I will want to keep. ( this is not always the case at the end of a workshop!). After so long without workshops, it was lovely to experience a well organised workshop offering good value with the opportunity to learn new skills in a small friendly group whose ages ranged from 10 to nearly 70. I can thoroughly recommend the experience."

Karen Wyeth Contemporary Felt Artist responded:

"Thank you so much Sue for taking the time to leave such a lovely and comprehensive review, I really appreciate it! Do let me know how you get on with adding embroidery and stitching to your beautiful picture"

Matilda Willow reviewed: Full Day Mosaic For Outdoors on slate with Laura Barnes.

"I did the full day mosaic course with my husband as a birthday present and had a wonderful time! Neither of us had ever tried mosaic before and arrived just with a couple of odd pictures we thought we might try - we left with stunning completed pieces that are a real highlight in our garden, and a good idea of the basics of mosaic art. Laura is an excellent tutor who gave a perfect balance of help and advice, and time to just work calmly on the projects, and she had some useful resources like books and of course her existing mosaics to help show how to make ideas work. It was a perfect gift and I hope to come back for another course in the future."

Laura Barnes Crafty Fox Studios responded:

"Thank you, Matilda, you are both very welcome to come back and create more beautiful work. It was a pleasure to tutor you and I enjoyed passing on my mosaic tips and knowledge. A lovely review... thank you again. Laura."

Jacob Ross reviewed: Stool making course at Sallerton Wood

"I've lived on four continents, and Sallerton Wood is as lovely a spot as there is, camping among the bluebells below the tree canopy by the stream. Better still is to learn greenwood furniture making from as friendly, skilful and patient a teacher as Andy Morton. It is inspiring as a beginner to use hand tools only, on freshly cut wood from sustainable woodland management, to complete a project to such a high standard. The whole experience was superb - refreshing, relaxing and engaging. I highly recommend the stool making course at Sallerton Wood, I've shared the details with my friends, and am already planning my next visit."

Sallerton Wood responded:

"We are very pleased that you enjoyed the course, and its woodland setting. We look forward to seeing you again on your next course at Sallerton Wood."

"I was a complete beginner to work with epoxy resin and I learned lots of the practical skills, principles and also how to put your own artistic stamp on your work. My class was run by Richard who was very welcoming and interesting. He made me feel at ease so I felt able to ask questions and check when I wasn’t sure. The workshop is light, airy and was set in an interesting creative hub. I had a really great morning and certainly want to come back for the second part of the course."
