Sarah reviewed: Learn soft pastels in a relaxed beautiful environment

"A fantastic day with an incredibly warm and talented tutor. Heather explained pastel techniques and materials brilliantly in a way that I will not forget. Having not picked up pastels for 25 years I am astonished that, thanks to her step by step approach, I was able to produce a picture I am actually happy to show to people. A lovely venue for a relaxed learning environment; I was delighted to meet the canals ducks and swans who came to check we were working (and perhaps for some duck food). I will not hesitate to book again."

Steve Lawrence reviewed: Introduction to spooncarving at Hill End

"An excellent course that was well structured with expert instructions, guidance, tips and tutorials in digestible bits presented throughout the day. I arrived not really knowing what to expect but left having had a thoroughly enjoyable day and with an excuse to buy new tools to try my hand at a bit more spoon carving."

David Knight Woodland Crafts responded:

"Hi Steve, thanks so much for your positive review. Of course the number of carving tools you need is definitely N + 1! I really like supporting small scale tool manufacturers making specialist woodcarving tools and I hope any purchases you make serve you well and become heirlooms to hand down to next generations. Enjoy making shavings! "

Wendy Love Hinds reviewed: Copper Cuff Workshop

"This was a fabulous course where we all got to create an individual cuff using new skills, as none of the group had ever worked with any metal before! Gill was a wonderful patient tutor who explained techniques clearly, was always at hand to support while still encouraging our own individual creativity. It was amazing to walk away after a morning's work with a finished piece of jewellery that's a joy to wear. I look forward to doing another of Gill's workshops in the not too distant future!"

Gill Bridgestock Metal Artist responded:

"Thanks Wendy, I'm so glad you got a lot out of this. It makes it all worth while knowing that the skills you learned can be used and built upon as you wish in the comfort of your own home. "

Caitlin reviewed: A one day introduction to good beekeeping practice

"Really enjoyed the day and meeting local beekeepers. I found the instruction and ability to ask questions at any time really helpful as well as just seeing what a proper set-up looks like. The mix of hands-on & theory was well balanced. I took photos of slides / posters I found useful - in particular, the lifecycle of the different bees and what kind of workload to expect when (with no guarantees of course!). Lovely lunch & beautiful garden surrounds. Thanks"

The Barnyard Apiaries responded:

"Hi Caitlin, I'm very pleased to read that you enjoyed the course and found it useful. Good luck with your own bees. Jonathan"

Rob Johns reviewed: "2 Crafts in 1 Day!" 1-2-1 woodturning & pottery experience for 1 person

"My wife bought me this as a present and I attended this course yesterday and had to write a review for it straight away. It was amazing, a really relaxing day making things. Half a day of wood turning and half a day of pottery. The wood turning course was informative and really fun, and I ended up with a finished piece by the end of the morning to take home. Pottery is something new to me (I hadn't touched clay since my distant school days) but by the end of the day I had managed to create 3 different pots that were worth keeping all thanks to the great and patient tuition. Looking forward to my next birthday so I can get my wife to buy me another course."

Blended Monkey - pottery - woodturning - green woodworking - pole lathe - throwing responded:

"Hi Rob, Thanks so much for a lovely review; we're so glad you enjoyed your day. You should have the tuition notes link now and Louise is working on getting your pots finished for collection. Any questions or queries, please don't hesitate to get in touch. -- Simon & Louise"

Jane reviewed: Glass Fusing and Slumping for Beginners and Improvers

"After a brief safety talk we were shown 4 different methods of fusing glass followed by time to try out all four under supervision and assistance of our lovely hosts Janice and Jean. This was followed by wonderful homemade soup( choice of 3 ) and muffins out in the summer sunshine. Then the hard work began ,deciding what we wanted to make ,there were plenty of ideas and shapes of glassware to hand and J & J there to advise if we needed help.I managed to make two more things. Such a great day ,can't wait to see my finished items after their double firings .Thanks again Jean & Janice"

JJ Fused Glass responded:

"Hi Jane. Thank you for taking the time to review our fused glass workshop. We’re so glad you enjoyed your experience and the way we teach. We look forward to seeing you again when you collect your work. Best wishes. Janice and Jean. "
