Ann carr reviewed: (NOW FULL) Acrylic painting workshop at Back Room Art Stourbridge (NOW FULL)

"This course was bought for me by my son so I was a little apprehensive as I hadn't done this type of thing before, however I found the experience most enjoyable and Heather couldn't have been more helpful. I came away with a completed painting which was quite good if I do say so myself So yes I would go back again and certainly recommend anyone to give it a try "

Back Room Art responded:

"Thank you for your lovely review. Your oainting certainly was very beautiful. I hope to see you again in the studio soon. "

Daisy Dowler reviewed: Resin Side Table Workshop (Beginners Upwards)

"Absolutely brilliant day; from the drive there in a beautifully calm setting to Sophie’s warm welcome, and calm nature and teaching us how to use the materials and different looks. We had a practice first, which was great; used any excess paint for a coaster too. So pleased with the end results of the coffee table. Great value. I would recommend this course."

Michele Firth reviewed: From fleece to fibre 2-day spinning workshop

"The 'Fleece to Fibre' course was excellent - Elaine is a very talented lady and loves sharing her extensive knowledge with others. The course covered fleece preparation, washing, picking and grading the fleece. We used a drum carder to prepare the fleece for spinning. We all (3 of us) spun 2 bobbins and then plyed them both, then used a Niddy Noddy to transfer the spun wool into a skein and then washed our spun fibre. The course contained all we need to learn to spin from Fleece to Fibre - thank you so much Elaine for a wonderful 2 day course for your enthusiasm and expertise. "

Cartmel Handspun Spinning School responded:

"Thanks Michele. Great you were able to learn on your own wheel as well. Nothing stopping you now. "

Peter & Tricia Bennett reviewed: Introduction to Leatherwork

"My wife and I attended Cathy’s studio for a 4 hour course — she has a lifetime experience of working with leather with a workshop kitted out with a fascinating collection of tools an equipment and believe you me when we say we came away with superb treasures of our endeavours which you are proud to display and will always retain with valuable memory. Two candle holders ,a key ring and a journal day book holder — most importantly the confidence to use the required knowledge to develop the skills as a personal hobby for gifts or commercial ventures Cathy’s welcome and personality is very endearing —- so a big thanks to Cathy from Peter & Tricia "

Pete Crosby reviewed: 1-to-1 Beginners Leatherworking Workshop

"A fabulous day of learning in a truly amazing venue. Although booked as a general introduction to leatherwork, Pipa was able to tweak the lessons to suit my particular interest in restoring historic military leather equipment. An amazing amount was packed into the day, hands-on and theory, and Pipa is clearly a gifted leatherworker as well as a natural teacher. An enjoyable, well paced day and so much learned. I’m booking a follow up day to focus more on areas aligned to my own particular goals and interests. "

Jenny reviewed: Large outdoor plaster hare sculpture kit

"A wonderful kit. My partner and I really enjoyed making our Hare and can’t wait to display it in the garden when the weather improves. It was a brilliant kit and we could make it all on the dining room table! The written instructions and you tube video were really easy to follow and everything could be done at an enjoyable pace. My only feedback is that we needed to buy about 3 extra rolls of foil (maybe we scrunched it too tightly ?) . I highly recommend this !!"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you very much for taking the time to post a review Jenny! So glad you enjoyed the kit and found the instructions easy to follow. I am smiling regarding the foil, and apologise for you having to obtain more. I think I'm making the armatures a little bigger now, plus chubbier hares are evolving! Different makes of foil can also be thinner and therefore compact down more. However, I'm thrilled you like your finished sculpture. You can pop it outside about a week after finishing it. Mine stay out all winter 🤗👍. Jo x"

Michael Yard reviewed: Woodturning tuition in Wiltshire

"I had a very enjoyable day trying out woodturning for the very first time. Andy is a real expert at his craft, and he was very good at explaining the different tools and processes that are involved in both sharpening tools and using them on the lathe. There is a real satisfaction in taking a piece of wood and shaping it into a practical object. The bowl that Andy helped me make looks really lovely and will last forever. I spent a day with Andy and I am keen to return again to learn more and get more practice. It was so good to be able to have an expert demonstrate a particular technique and then for me to be able to have a go straight afterwards. I have always admired wooden objects and now that I have had a brief introduction to woodturning, I will appreciate them even more knowing just how skilled the people are that make them. Thanks Andy for your help and guidance and for making it a fun day out, thanks also to Mary and Angus the dog. Best Regards, Michael."
