Anne Recchia reviewed: The First Cut - lino cutting for beginners & rusty printmakers

"This was a fabulous course! From the very start we were made to feel welcome by Liz. She explained step by step the techniques and processes we needed to use and helped at every step giving individual attention when needed. We were encouraged to use our imagination and I was amazed at what could be achieved in such a short period of time. A thoroughly delightful way to spend a day with good company and a great teacher."

Liz Wellby - Artist, Teacher & Maker responded:

"Hi Anne, Lovely to hear from you and thank you for letting me know about your time at The Slipper Studio. It was a pleasure working with you, seeing your ideas and skills develop throughout the day, plus your enthusiasm for the process. There’s lots of potential combining printing and fabric, so I feel you're likely to disappear down a new rabbit hole! Happy cutting and printing. Best wishes Liz Wellby "

Samuel Wicks reviewed: Woodcarving with Jason Thomson sculptural woodcarving with hand tools, eccentric whittling courses, Sheffield.

"A brilliant course with a knowledgeable and enthusiastic tutor! Jason works to understand the ideas and abilities of each student, using his considerable experience to tailor the course to suit. Within the six-hour course, Jason covers all the tools and techniques necessary to begin woodcarving, while still leaving ample time to explore and develop ambitious carving projects. I began with no prior experience and ended the day with a decently sized sculpture. The perfect course both for those new to woodcarving and those who wish to develop their skills."

Jason Thomson - Sculptor responded:

"Thank you very much for your review of my woodcarving course. I really enjoy the dynamic days of my courses and meeting the brilliant and diverse people who attend them."

Richard D reviewed: Glass bottle cutting for beginners - Sittingbourne

"This was a very enjoyable morning learning how to cut glass bottles. Janet and Claire were excellent teachers, showing us just what to do and with great patience and good humour. All the equipment needed to learn the technique was provided, and the workshop took place in a well appointed cabin and with all necessary facilities. We got to make lots of items, including taking away a lovely storm lantern that now looks great in the garden in the evening. Particular thanks to Claire for taking the time to help me cut a very thick gin bottle, even though she was recovering from a recent operation. Thank you Janet and Claire for a very enjoyable course!"

Fancy Tat responded:

"Hello Richard, Thank you so much for your kind review. We very much enjoyed spending the morning with you and we are really pleased that you had a lovely time :) It’s lovely to hear that you are enjoying your storm lantern, and Claire was more than happy to help with the stubborn bottle ! Kind Regards Claire & Janet""

Neil McLachlan reviewed: Woodturning for beginners

"Excellent course - I felt that both days were really tailored to my personal goals, providing more technical detail when I wanted it, but plenty of practical experience to build my own confidence. The set up is perfect, really relaxed, extremely clean and welcoming. Stuart worked to my level - when I picked something up quickly, we moved on - but if I needed further explanation, we were able to focus on specific areas as needed. It's great learning a new skill and having been given the confidence to keep it going. Above all, Stuart is great company - the two days were great fun from start to finish. Thanks Stuart - I will be back!"

The Scottish Woodturner responded:

"Thanks Neil, I also enjoyed the weekend. You were picking it up well so hopefully you will get a lathe and the necessary tools. It's a great craft to learn and very therapeutic. Stuart."

Jayne reviewed: Bring Your Own Upholstery Project - 1 day workshop - Week Days

"I thoroughly enjoyed my day under Sarah's guidance. She made us feel very welcome and the space was perfect for facilitating a small group. I took a Parker Knoll arm chair to the class and it was my first experience of re-upholstery so quite a big challenge! However, Sarah's teaching was individualised and she was very helpful in all aspects. I look forward to booking more sessions in the future!"

"I recently spent a terrific day at Limelight studios being introduced to glass painting by Derek. The day was packed with useful information, tips and hands on experience. It was great fun and very satisfying to come away with a completed piece, and I thoroughly recommend others try it! "

"I had a really great day with Rachel who tailored the day to the outputs I was particularly interested in. "Thank you so much Julie. So kind of you to take the time to review and such lovely comments. It was great to meet you and you did brilliantly with your lasering. All the very best. Rach "

Lisa Smith reviewed: Stone carving for beginners - Weymouth

"John is a highly skilled and talented sculptor, and also a wonderful tutor - kind, patient, nurturing and encouraging, and enormously knowledgeable. I really enjoyed stone carving and would love to do more under John's tutelage, and would recommend this course for anyone who enjoys exploring unusual ways to get creative. The setting is beautiful, over-looking the sea and the Isle of Portland, the source of the stone we carved, which added to the enchantment and pleasure of the day. Thank you."

Sculptor John Davey responded:

"Many thanks for your kind words, Lisa. You achieved a fantastic sculpture—lots of interesting textures that really worked in harmony with your final relief carving. I had a great day and do gain much pleasure from passing on my passion for stone carving. Here's to the next time. Regards John."

Helen Parr reviewed: 'Make a framed, needle-felted Wren' with Helen Hammond a 'Quirky Workshop' nr Ullswater & the Lake District

"My daughter and I attended this workshop together and had a fabulous day. The tutor, Helen, is knowledgeable, encouraging and inspiring. She demonstrated each stage clearly, then helped us to overcome any difficulties so that everyone in the group went home with a completed piece, as well as the skills to continue with their new hobby. Faith Davis reviewed: Small human sculpture kit (30cm)

"My daughter and I made small figures together from your kit.It was a lovely shared thing to do during her university holiday visit home at Easter and to finish this summer. I often struggle with craft activities and get frustrated and despondent but this has such clear instructions and it was fun at every step from shaping the wire to adding clay to the final colour. We would highly recommend this kit!"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you so much Faith - and for sending the photos of your fabulous figures! I'm so happy the kit process worked for you. As mentioned in my email, the little boy figure sitting hugging his knees in the kit photos was made by my (then) 88 year old Mum who had never touched clay before. I tested the process out on her and we were both delighted by her achievement. Jo x"
