Debbie da Rosa reviewed: Bees for Development Sustainable Beekeeping Weekend Courses 2024

"I would highly recommend this course, I had the most amazing weekend learning all about Bees and how to care for them. It was very informative and inspiring, offering good practical experience with the opportunity to open a hive and watch the bees at work, just amazing! The accommodation was good and the food excellent all set in the beautiful Wye Valley. I now feel confident enough to have a hive of my own. Huge thank you. :)"

Rebecca Deighton reviewed: Fused glass workshop at Twice Fired Studio, Leeds 2hr

"My son won a competition to make a Christmas decoration. He loved it so much that he had his birthday party here. I have attended a few workshops and made some lovely things which I have on display at home and have also given as gifts. A lovely way to relax and do something creative where you can meet new people or take some fiends along. Thoroughly recommend."

Lyn Cadmore reviewed: Fused glass workshop at Twice Fired Studio, Leeds 2hr

"I cannot recommend Twice Fired too highly. Kate is extremely welcoming and knowledgeable and after only 2 hours, with her support, I had made pieces to be proud of. After my first course I returned for others and have made some lovely presents. You don't have to be artistic...I am totally not. I cannot wait to see the finished pieces each time. A gift voucher would be a fantastic present for anyone who likes to try different crafts. Kate welcomes children as well.......a great idea for a 'girly party' for all ages."

Allan & Helen Thomas reviewed: Blacksmithing Introduction courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"Another Brilliant course from the entire team! me and the wife decided to do another course after our taster day, and we went with garden flowers, this was much more a free form sort of day, after the usual safety discussions and some basic instructions we were free to create something unique, which was a little worrying as we had to rely on our own imagination rather than step by step instructions. However, any fears were quickly dismissed as Adrian and his co-worker Andy quickly realised who was struggling and offered types of decorations, ways of embellishing and finishing and at the end of the day everyone on the course had a work of art and everyone had something different! as usual the food provided by Debbie was outstanding, its worth going for the food!! we had a brilliant day and are looking at dates to come back again!"

Steve Bergel reviewed: Bees for Development Sustainable Beekeeping Weekend Courses 2024

"I attended the course to gain as much insight into bees and beekeeping, and now feel confident enough to proceed further. The enthusiasm of the course providers was infectious and the way they imparted their knowledge was so informal and relaxed that it wasn't difficult to retain it over a busy weekend. Enough detail is provided to give a good understanding of all the processes involved and I came away feeling that any problems that arise in the future can be managed with a degree of confidence and some recommended reading. Thoughly recommended, could not have been better."

Jacqueline Abbott reviewed: Glass Fusing with Enamels - Two Day Course

"It was such a privilege to spend two days with Steve in his wonderful and spacious workshop. My experience exceeded all my expectations as Steve's encouragement, willingness to share his wealth of experience and ability to coax me beyond my boundaries took me way beyond what I believed I could achieve and even stirred a few tears when the kiln was opened! I have brought home a beautiful glass panel that I am both delighted and proud to have installed as a splashback in my new kitchen! Thank you so much, Steve for all that you shared."

Richard Williams reviewed: Blacksmithing Introduction courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"What a great day! Adrian and Andy were very relaxed in their approach, which put at ease all the nerves you might have had. They provided just the right level of support to get you up and going and within an hour the whole group was well on its way to forging a key ring, which was a great way to break people into the tools and techniques needed to produce the more complicated Dragon Coat Hanger in the afternoon. The guys were on hand to advise or at times correct the errors we all made, but always with an encouraging approach. The food that Debbie made were excellent and I certainly wasn't hungry at any point in the day! I really would recommend this course and have already mentioned to 2 of my friends, who are busy booking up."

Marja Haigh reviewed: Make a silver ring or bangle

"As a birthday present, I was given a workshop day with Lucy, making jewellery, it was a big surprise. After making some arrangements with Lucy, what I needed and what could I make in a day, I booked a day with her to come for the workshop. On arrival I had a warm welcome and whilst we had a drink, Lucy explained what we were going to do and what the process is working with metal. I had no idea as it was all new to me. Lucy is very knowledgable about the subject, as she has been making beautiful jewellery for quite some time. Lucy let me take over after she had shown me how to do a specific job, we worked at different stages to complete the final object; a bangle. I thought it was going to be the easiest option, but that was not the case. I ended up with a lovely object, proud that I had made it myself, under Lucy's instructions. I had a wonderful day, an very knowledgeable teacher who was great fun to be with, I felt relaxed right from the start. If you are interested in jewellery making I highly recommend Lucy as a teacher."

Sandy Miles (& Jenny Dartnell) reviewed: Introduction to candle-making as a business

"Oh what a lovely day! Jo couldn't have been more helpful or organised. We took home loads of candles and explored lots of different techniques. Tea and biccies was included, together with a lovely lunch in Jo's beautiful home. Excellent value for money. We were also given a list of suppliers and instructions so we can make our own candles at a later date. I'd have no hesitation in recommending this course; whether you are looking to learn a new hobby, start you own business, or like me, just looking for a lovely day out with a friend."

Chris and Jack Walker reviewed: Wood turning tuition, New Forest, Hampshire (1 day) (2 people)

"Both Jack and I had an excellent morning with Graham Turner on 19/4/17 and we are more than happy to recommend the course. I think I can speak for Jack when I say that both of us doubted that we could produce a bowl of the standard Graham showed us at the start but with his excellent tuition we were both proved very wrong and the results sit proudly on display on our coffee table. Graham has an easy teaching style with great attention to detail which gives you the confidence to produce great results. We enjoyed it so much that we are now looking to book a further session in October. Thank you Graham."

Louise Jutsum reviewed: Bees for Development Sustainable Beekeeping Weekend Courses 2024

"I echo what Helen has said. I found it particularly useful to think of a colony of bees as having many of the characteristics of a small mammal. Some of the images used to illustrate the talks were particularly arresting eg that of a bee sting showing the long line of the bee's insides and the drone mating with the queen. I have never seen a Warre hive up close before and the swarm made a very clear choice in its favour. Top bar hives have long been a mystery to me and now I know how to make one. I also very much enjoyed the company of the other course participants and interesting discussions continued into the evenings."

Helen English reviewed: Bees for Development Sustainable Beekeeping Weekend Courses 2024

"I found the course very informative and helpful. It gave me the confidence to review the way in which we'd been keeping our bees at our Community Farm up till now and to develop the skills to make what we are doing truly sustainable. It was also interesting to be able to look inside a Top Bar hive and to learn about bees in all their manifestations. We were very lucky to witness a swarm on the Sunday afternoon right outside where we were meeting!"
