Chris reviewed: Hand forged rustic knife course

"Absolutely brilliant course. Was bought this as a Christmas present. The forge is right at the bottom of a private road. When you get there, Andy hands over a lump of metal, explains the science behind it, turns on the forge, then it’s about 4 and half hours of fire, hammers, and grinding. You come away absolutely knackered, massively satisfied, and you’ll have a very cool knife for cutting steaks and wood. Would recommend this as a brilliant gift for anyone stuck in an office. Thanks Andy! Chris"

Freda Cronk reviewed: Introduction to silk painting - workshop at The Mulberry Shed

"Sheila made us very welcome in her lovely Mulberry Shed workroom which was a delight of colour and design. I had never done any silk painting and was keen to see what I could achieve. Sheila took us through the key techniques and materials in a relaxed and easy to understand way, she then helped us individually to structure our art and achieve a really lovely result on silk. It was a lovely way to spend a Saturday and I would recommend Sheila's course, in fact I'd be keen to go again with my daughter."

Nari reviewed: Group Soap-making Workshop - Soapology Studio - Nottinghamshire

"An interesting and insightful day of what goes into soap making. The workshop struck the right balance between the theory aspect which was an overview of Science, Maths and the Creative side and then the practical part of actually making up our own soap. It was quite fun in choosing our own ingredients such as colour, essential oils and herbs. I purchased the starter pack and will be looking forward to adding my own additives and creating pretty patterns! Emma was lovely and welcoming which makes all the difference in learning. The day left me with lots to think about for potential ideas. I would recommend this workshop for anyone who wants to get a taste of this subject before they actually commit."

Sonia Galan reviewed: Free Motion Embroidery Pictures in Buntingford, Hertfordshire

"Sue Nicolls is a lovely lady and the course was just brilliant. It was informal, in a lovely setting and very informative. I learnt the basics of machine embroidery plus, I feel, some more intermediate techniques - certainly enough for me to now practice and experiment on my own. Apart from the practical elements, I also learnt about the sewing machine attachments/set up, threads, fabrics, equipment etc needed for machine embroidery with advice on where to purchase them from. I was very pleased with the work that I produced - Sue's help & guidance has given me confidence to expand on what I learnt. She certainly is one talented lady as her log cabin is full of her very creative and stunning pieces; and work in progress. It was also good to discuss a subject we are both very passionate about. I would certainly recommend Sue and her course/s. Her husband makes very good tea too!"

Sue Nicholls Designs responded:

"What a lovely review, thank you. It was a pleasure to teach you"

"I had a warm welcome from Nick on arrival and he provided excellent tuition to introduce me to woodturning. We produced three spindles to introduce me to some of the woodturning cutting techniques and I have a fantastic bowl that we made in the afternoon. I would recommend Nick to anyone considering an introductory and / or a more advanced course in woodturning and associated techniques. Many thanks Nick!"

Sara reviewed: Creative Vibe - Glassblowing Sessions

"I really enjoyed the workshop. The instruction and pace of the day was perfect, and it was really nice working with two other novices - we all helped each other. Really impressed with the items we were able to make, all of which are good enough to have on display and demonstrate the natural progression of the skills acquired as the day progressed."

Clare reviewed: Bespoke candle making workshop - Edinburgh

"This course was a wonderful way to spend a Saturday morning and learn something new. Course sizes were small and very relaxed around the kitchen table. Kerry was very knowledgeable about all things to do with candles and she was full of enthusiasm. The candle I made smells delicious and I'm looking forward to using it as well as the fragrance oil we blended ourselves. Would highly recommend!"

"Alice is a great teacher, she taught each person the knots individually to their needs, she then helped us all with ideas and how to recover from mistakes. Lovely studio and lovely area, I hope to book onto the weaving course because Alice is so clever and all her products are amazing and so inspirational."

Iain reviewed: Blacksmithing Introduction courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"I attended this course with my son- a 21st Birthday gift from his sister and a 60th birthday gift for myself from my son. After an early start to get there we were greeted by Debbie with a hot drink and delicious flapjack. Adrian gave us our first demonstration and then we proceeded to make our first object- a keyring. Adrian and Andy were there to support and guide us but allowed us to get on with the job in hand. Both were encouraging and helpful. We then proceeded onto the dragon coat hook which is great. Debbie did us proud with a super lunch and cakes. The group were lovely and it felt relaxed throughout. We came home with our achievements and great experiences. We both thoroughly enjoyed the day. We would highly recommend this course to all."

"This was a lovely mother and daughter activity introducing us to furniture painting. Prior to the course we had spent a fun morning at a local place hunting out a small piece of furniture to take with us. Celia and Chris were delightful and very helpful. We learnt a range of new skills. Excellent value for money, lovely food - very enjoyable birthday. Thank you."

Mark Lindsay reviewed: Weekend introductory blacksmithing course 'B' at Quinnell School of Blacksmithing

"What an excellent weekend! The perfect set up for learning a new skill, highly skilled and adept teachers (and just down right decent blokes). Great food, (very lovely cakes!!) and although personally, I am not very talented, I did not stop learning from the moment I arrived. On top of all this, you get to make some cool implements to take home and display your forging prowess (and possibly open bottles with)!! In all honesty, if I could go every weekend, I would...So book today...no seriously BOOK IT!!!"
