Karen Buckley reviewed: Felt Making Pictures (Halifax)

"Had a lovely day doing Jo’s course. Jo is clearly very experienced and enthusiastic about what she does and fortunately for us, knows how to teach felt making to beginners. She had lots of wool we can use in many beautiful colours. Everyone made amazing felt pieces. It’s also a really relaxing process and very satisfying to create something so lovely to take home. I also felt I got a good understanding of the process, which was an added bonus. I totally recommend this course with Jo. She is also very warm, friendly and helpful and makes everyone feel welcome. For a one interested in art and felt making, this course is not to be missed."

Yvonne reviewed: Linocut one day workshop: one to one

"My son and I spent a wonder day with Annette on Sunday. She immediately put us at our ease and her warmth, enthusiasm and passion spilled over as she gave us a tour of the shop/studios at the beginning of our visit. We both really enjoyed the lino cut workshop and found the whole experience relaxing and rewarding. Her patience and kindness in helping us through the process from initial mark making and experimentation to inking up and trying out different ways to use the templates we'd made has really inspired me to go on and try it myself at home. I have never considered myself to be at all artistic, but with her expertise, guidance, reassurance and encouragement I now feel that I could produce something to be proud of. I can't wait to have a go."

"What a great day. Such a relaxed course but packed with information and tips. We came away with loads of things and this was followed up with an email with further info. Family and friends were very impressed. Julie and her helper were so pleasant and made the day fun as well as imparting their knowledge. The afternoon tea was much more than we expected. I would recommend without hesitation, great value for money."

Robin Hollands reviewed: 1 to 1 Bladesmithing or Blacksmithing

"I very much enjoyed my introduction to bladesmithing today, despite the rain! We were shown how to make "Yorkshire" Viking knives, which included a fair bit of blacksmithing in the handles, as well as forging the blades themselves. The instructors were great; knowledgeable and helpful and able to fix up the various little mistakes we all made at some point. There's a lot to cover in a day and things did get a little rushed towards the end, but we all went home with unique creations, and a better appreciation of the craft. Highly recommended."

Beatrix Tomlinson reviewed: Gelli Printmaking with No5workshops Group Booking

"I thoroughly enjoyed the lino printing course at Armi's amazing, bright and well equipped studio. She has an etching press and a book press and there are other fascinating looking pieces of equipment that I can't wait to get to use at future courses! I was self conscious of my drawing skills to start with, having not drawn anything for 30+ years, but Armi encouraged us all with various fun drawing warm ups and demonstrations and I was actually pleasantly surprised with my sketches! I was totally absorbed and very happy with my lino prints! The pace was just right for each level and we all benefited from individualised tips along the way. At break time we had coffee and delicious home made gluten free chocolate cake! Thank you for a wonderfully relaxed and productive morning! I'll definitely be back as I've booked to come back with my work mates!"

Marc and Jane Hancock reviewed: Amazing encaustic art day course

"Jane and I both enjoyed the tuition very much. A very relaxed and fun learning environment. All we have to do now is find the time to practice all those amazing techniques that Phil was good enough to let us in on. The day went very quickly, too quickly really, so we will have to get back to Phil's for further tuition, maybe using the hot air techniques too. You can see what the many years of Phils experience can achieve, something to work towards ha ha. Thanks"

Nicky Anderson reviewed: Two leather long stitch journals in a day

"What an enjoyable day's crafting. Each of us had our own little tool kits to use and every stage was demonstrated and explained clearly. Lynne was great and was able to foresee our choice dilemmas, so kept us on track and plied with tea and cake. It was friendly and relaxed and challenging at the same time. We all managed to finish two beautiful leather bound books; each one was different and all of us were chuffed with the results. Thoroughly recommended!"

Mary carter reviewed: Batik painting in North Devon

"What a lovely way to spend my time! I am not very artistic, but it didn't really matter, experimenting with patterns and shapes was just as good. It's interesting how the wax and the dyes work, was proud of my efforts ?. Everything was supplied, including a light lunch and beverages Learning the art of Batik was just one part of the day, I made new friends, and loved the vista from the well lit studio. Sadly I only completed only half of the day as I had to dash off, however I took my masterpiece home with me. Thank you Bridget and thank you other participants"

He combines good humour with solid advice, developed over a long career as a professional artist. His knack of transforming a mediocre painting with a few well placed strokes of the brush is inspiring."
