Tara Madgwick reviewed: Upholstery and upcycling furniture and interiors

"A superb course. Lucy not only made us all feel welcomed into her home and her workspace, but also supported each of us throughout the day with her deep technical and very practical knowledge. She has a great sense of style and in particular use of colour and fabrics and Lucy encouraged us all to embrace our own sense of creativity. Couldn’t fault the day and have gone on to complete my project and take on new ones. Just fantastic ... and my family are very impressed with my new found confidence to start different projects. Thoroughly recommend the day."

Jane Griffin reviewed: Pottery throwing course in the South Downs National Park (one day - one-to-one)

"I cannot recommend Rowena highly enough. I had a three-day, one-to-one course with her. I’d only done pottery at evening classes about twenty years ago and had no experience of using the wheel. I learnt to make bowls, dishes, a jug and several mugs with her expert tuition. She is so patient, such a good teacher and great company too. I’m hoping to go back for a day or two soon as enjoyed it so much."

Jeremy Wyman reviewed: Pottery wheel throwing and hand building full day

"We were were very impressed with this course. We do a lot of courses with Craft Courses.com and this came up trumps. I have to say that my wife was far better at throwing pots than I was. There is, of course, no competition between us. Richard is knowledgeable and patient. There is clearly a knack - that I didn't have. I got on better with the hand building in the afternoon. The vegetable soup at lunch was excellent. We have left Richard to fire our pots and he will glaze them as well as we can't return to complete the process - included in the price we will need to pay for shipping. We await a parcel of finished pots in due course. Do hesitate this is an excellent course and we highly recommend it."

Amanda Matthews reviewed: Table Loom Weaving Workshop - Dobby & Rose

"My husband bought me this course after we had met Rebecca at the Maltings Christmas market. I am local and live all things fibre. I was really interested to have a go at traditional weaving. I wasn’t expecting a one in one so I was delighted to have 3 hours with Rebecca, sharing her top notch skills and experience and using her fantastic resources. I’m hoping to do an intermediate course in the future."

Karolina reviewed: Hand forged rustic knife course

"Absolutely brilliant!!! I got this as an anniversary present for my boyfriend who likes knives and does woodwork, so thought he would enjoy learning how to make a knife from the beginning. I was also taking part but didn’t expect to have so much fun doing it myself! Dave and Andy are both great and easy going lads, they made sure we were safe in everything we did but also wanted us to have fun and make our own knife, only intervening when needed on corrections to make sure we had something nice to take home but still with our own mark on it. Great atmosphere and definitely an experience worth having. I know we already have our eye on the axe course! Wholeheartedly recommend! Thank you both guys ?"

Alex Welman reviewed: Table Loom Weaving Workshop - Dobby & Rose

"The three hour morning as an introduction to weaving was fantastic, Rebecca was inspiring and she made it so interesting. She touched on setting up the looms and within the first hour we were weaving ourselves and it was very rewarding to come home with a piece of handmade fabric. It was mesmerising and I would love to continue to learn more and progress. Thank you Rebecca for a fabulous morning, I couldn’t recommend this “taster” session more highly."

"Jonathan is a very talented and knowledgable Jeweller, a wonderful teacher and a really lovely man. "I loved this course and learnt so much! Jamie knew so much about stained glass, and his knowledge was inspiring and helpful. He also made sure everyone in the class understood each step and that we all got great results on our first try at stained glass. I’d recommend to anyone, a truly great fun, creative day with a take home to be really proud of."

Sarah Mortlock reviewed: One day Mosaic workshop Moon Hare Studio, Devon

"I would throughly recommend Adela’s one day mosaic class, I initially went in February enjoyed it so much I had a second day in March. Adela is brilliant, she has lots of experience to share. Her workshop is fab with a lovely log burner, in a great location. Tea, coffee and cake go down really well while you are working. It’s so surprising that the day goes so quickly once you have chosen what you would like to mosaic, and you do get to complete your mosaic project the same day. Thank you Adela for bringing out my creativity side."

Kim reviewed: Amazing encaustic art day course

"My friend and I had a most enjoyable day learning all about encaustic wax. I was surprised how much we learnt and achieved in just one day! Phil is an excellent teacher. Passionate about this art form and very encouraging. The day was great fun as well as educational. This is such an enjoyable and easy art for to do, even if you don't feel like you're the 'creative' type you will be able to produce something that's absolutely unique and beautiful. I thoroughly recommend Phil's course and my friend and I look forward to returning for more encaustic fun!"

Neil Hawkins reviewed: Two leather long stitch journals in a day

"A really fun day with Lynne, making 2 books - a small book in the morning and a larger book in the afternoon. The pace of the course was just right and Lynne gave attention to the three of us as we needed it. As a complete novice, I liked the fact that all the materials, tools etc for the workshops are provided - I've seen some courses where the students are required to bring along various materials / tools, which as I beginner I do not own and don't know if I want to buy until I have completed the course. Lynne has a vast array of materials available, so it was enjoyable to see the three of us all struggle to choose the materials / colours. Lynne provided good notes which we took home with us and followed up with an email summarising the day with hints and tips on where to buy materials etc. If you want to try something new, I would certainly recommend this course with Lynne as an excellent tutor. Oh and the home-made cake was delicious ;-)"

Hilary & Ali reviewed: Bespoke Contemporary Fine Art Encaustic Wax Workshop.

"My daughter and I have recently spent a most enjoyable day with Lyn Kirkland at her Portland workshop learning the technique of inserting photographs, which we supplied, into wax which resulted in fantastic 3d images. Lyn copied our pictures onto special ‘paper’, provided us with three different sized wooden boards and all the wax. Lyn, a lovely, incredibly talented lady, is patient, kind and fun to be with, and as a bonus coffee or tea were served all day. She also makes the most delicious cakes which she shared with us. If you haven’t already tried encaustic work I can thoroughly recommend that you have a go."

Christopher Wortley reviewed: Blacksmithing for Beginners - Full Day Forging for One

"What a great day! My one-day course was a birthday present – and I had such a good time. Chris is a great teacher, splitting the jobs into bite-sized tasks and letting you get the hang of each before moving on. And he’s also good at judging when to step in and help (I swear those hammers get heavier as the day goes on). As well as the hands-on work, I also enjoyed learning about the fire and the tools and history of the craft. I came away with two pieces:- a key ring and a letter opener – and I’m really pleased with them both. I would happily recommend his course to anyone who fancies trying their hand at blacksmithing."
