Maureen Wiesner reviewed: Wet felting / needle felting workshop: Private session with Zenia from The Lady Moth

"I arranged a workshop with Zenia in my home to celebrate my 60th birthday. There were seven of us and we all made a felted bunny. Only one person had done felting before, but by the end everyone had created a beautiful little creature, and I got so many positive comments afterwards; my friends said that they enjoyed every minute and everyone left feeling very happy. Zenia is a talented, patient teacher. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was so nice that everyone had something meaningful to take home."

Elaine reviewed: Stained glass one day course for beginners: one-to-one

"I really enjoyed every aspect of my day. I spent the morning practising all of the techniques needed and getting used to the tools. The afternoon was spent making a piece to bring home. Emma allowed me choose from a great selection of colours and styles to make a glass panel that I am delighted with. Emma was encouraging throughout. I had no experience of this craft when I arrived but came away inspired to pursue it further. Thank you, Emma."

Jacimay reviewed: Felt Making Pictures (Halifax)

"Jo is a very talented artist and creator of all things beautiful so when I visited her at her lovely bright studio at the Birchcliffe Centre in Hebden Bridge I knew I was in for an interesting and fun day! Jo has an abundance of recycled fabrics ribbons and wools of every kind but if you are conscious about using ethically sourced textiles then don't worry because Jo is a great Eco warrior and promotes her passion with pride for using all things that are sourced ethically like her luxuriance of animal wools and fibres. Jo tries to recycle as much as she can so sets her students up, each with a set of simple basic tools to help you create till your heart is content. Jo's approach to mentoring is very relaxed and enabling students to be as free as you like for this type of process. For me it was about being free to explore and compose two small abstract pieces which I didn't really have any pre conceived idea of what I wanted to do other than I was inspired by a visit to the seaside so wanted to incorporate textures and shades of blues that's all. My other piece was just a fleeting thought as I drove in and was inspired by the route into Hebden Bridge, and the sunshine sweeping and creating a veil of intense light over the many alternating shades of green of the rolling hills. I lay down my fibres most precariously in some areas but also added some fibres which represented my responses to my passing thoughts. Jo taught some very useful skills and pitches her mentoring style to suit your pace of learning. I learned how to lay out fibres, and the science behind the magical process of binding them together using the tools. I learnt how to choose types of fibres and how different textures and colour can enhance your little masterpiece. I also did some throwing which Jo demonstrated. Yes you literally throw your felted piece repeatedly on the floor and it doesn't fall to bits, amazing!! It was very satisfying believe me! All in all a fantastic day with Jo, I learnt so much and can't wait to book another workshop when I'm free. I intend practicing at home and Jo also has some recommendations of where to buy some wools and fibres. The tools are easy and cheap to buy too if you don't already have them hanging around at home. Thanks again Jo you're brilliant!"

Grim reviewed: Green woodworking at Coppicewood College

"Totally recommend this course to anyone with an interest in green woodworking. Aside from the best setting to work in you can imagine and the great tutors, the course managed to to cram in teaching a good number of principles and techniques in a comparatively short time. I chose to make a shave-horse and learned how to split large logs, shape with an axe, drill with an auger, carve joints of various shapes and even fitted in some pole-lathe work! An awesome few days that now has me back at home, running around antique shops for restorable tools and eyeing up my local patch of woodland..."

"This is my second candle workshop with Kerry and it was just as informative and fun as the first. The workshops are held in Kerry’s home so there is a lovely relaxed and homely feel to them and the home baked delicious crumble definitely added to that! Thanks again Kerry and I’ll definitely be booking another workshop nearer to Christmas so I can add extra skills to my hobby."

"I had a fantastic day with Dawn at her mosaic making class. She is a very good teacher and is very encouraging and patient; I felt really confident and she had some really good suggestions. It was so nice to spend a day crafting and chatting with like-minded people. The hospitality was second to none, we were made to feel very welcome, not just by Dawn but by her lovely in-laws too. Lunch was amazing - the best quiche I've ever had and a beautifully moist carrot cake! Thank you so much Dawn for a wonderful day, Julie xx"

Jennifer Gurner reviewed: Easter Egg and chocolate making

"This was a brilliant day fun-filled with lots of instruction along the way so that I learnt tempering, making truffles, filling chocolates, making edible decorations and roses, piping techniques and making several eggs from scratch. There were plenty of tasting opportunities! Yolanda and John kept the tea and coffee flowing and lunch was first class and plenty of it, catering for vegetarian and gluten free dietary needs. Highly recommend this company, teachers are responsible, well informed, helpful and professional."

"Liz is very skillfull and most of all a lovely and friendly person. Her workshop was so well organised. We were provided with plenty of materials, tools and tutoring. Her studio is a beautifull and cosy place, located in picturesque surroundings. It was a wonderfull day for me. I learnt a lot; managed to produce some interesting printouts. I felt like a child in a playground and found there inspiration for my little amateur projects. There was loads of tea, coffee, biscuits, a lovely cat and the most encouraging feedback from Liz! I highly recommend for those who want to learn new skills or just need a de-stressing therapy day!"

Elaine reviewed: Screen printing using paper stencils onto fabric

"I really loved this screen printing course. I am creative but had never tried screen printing and Liz made it easy to learn. She guides you through the whole process with loads of patience! She is really warm and friendly and makes you feel relaxed from start to finish. There seems to be nothing that Liz doesn’t know about printing and I came away with prints that I was super pleased with. I couldn’t recommend this course more highly it suits complete beginners or the more experienced creatives. I am going to book another one later in the year so I can do more prints, screen printing is pretty addictive!"

Dinah Norrie reviewed: Marvellous Mosaic one day workshop

"Attended Lindsey’s one day workshop today and I have to say from the moment I walked into her workshop I was hooked. Because the class sizes are quite small there wasn’t any hanging around waiting to speak to her. Her knowledge, and the manner in which she passes it onto those attending the workshop is top notch. She offers a vast, varied and generous supply of materials too. I left at the end of the day carrying a mosaic trivet which I couldn’t wait to show off to my family. I’ve already put pictures of it on my social media pages and have had ‘wow’ comments from my friends and family all over the world. I think it’s safe to say that I’m hooked. I can’t recommend this workshop enough, I would do it again and again. I feel I need to comment on how ‘at ease’ Lindsey makes everybody feel, she encourages everybody and makes light work of fixing any situations that her pupils see as disasters. To top it all there’s bottomless biscuits, cake, tea and coffee. 10 out of 10 for everything. Thank you Lindsey. Dinah Norrie 6th April 2019"

Lindsey Kennedy Portfolio responded:

"Thank you so much for the fantastic review, wow, I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your day in the studio so much and that it has ignited a passion for the craft! Once you start collecting mosaic materials it will become all absorbing, I was glad to be there for your introduction to it all. I have a feeling that I get just as much out of the workshops and there were plenty of really lovely ideas in the group. Do let me know how you get on with your mosaic projects later in the year!"

Sheila Laurens reviewed: Marvellous Mosaic one day workshop

"I was on this course/workshop today 6 April 2019 and I loved every minute of it!! Lindsey is such a generous teacher - generous with her knowledge and the materials available for use. She likes the class numbers to be small so that she can devote plenty of time to each one of us. I didn't know that I had it in me to come away with such an excellent piece of work which I am extremely proud of....so...Thank You very much Lindsey, I hope to be booking another course quite soon and making yet piece to be proud of !!"

Lindsey Kennedy Portfolio responded:

Celia Carleton reviewed: Pottery taster course one-to-one in the South Downs

"My daughter and I had a brilliant two hour session with Rowena, both using a wheel to produce a couple of pots. It was great to have detailed tuition from such an expert. Rowena gave a very clear demonstration and helped us every step of the way as we attempted our first pots on a wheel. Rowena was very encouraging and made us both feel relaxed and welcome. We each produced two pots within the session and were able to choose a glaze which Rowena will put on before she fires them. I would definitely recommend the course to others. we would forward to collecting our pots once they have completed the drying out and firing process."
