Stitched Places - Free-motion Machine Embroidery YORK

X

Description

A fantastic course in which you will learn how to use a sewing machine in free-motion mode, combined with simple paint layers to create beautiful artwork of places. Create work using one of our templates or bring your own photos of a favourite scene or place. We show you how to choose an image and transfer to fabric, then add a really simple paint layer using watercolour paints. Then we show you how to set up your machine, practice your technique and add layers of stitch. Don't worry if you have not done anything like this before, we support you through all stages. All materials and equipment are provided.  Sewing machines are provided, although you are welcome to bring your own machine (if using your own machine, it must have the function to 'drop the feed dogs' and come with an appropriate darning/free-motion foot. Please let us know at the time of booking if this is the case). Machines must be in good working order and have a recent PAT test certificate.  Holly will provide you with support and guidance throughout – even if you have never done anything like this before. Holly has been teaching for over 15 years and can help you to create an artwork to be proud of. Session run by Thread and Press CIC, a Community Interest Company. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided. For daytime courses, please bring your own lunch. This is an adult course. No experience required. Thread and Press CIC are a Community Interest Company based in the East Riding of Yorkshire, providing arts workshops, classes and projects for adults and children.
