Description

Spoon carving is a great way to start whittling and to learn about the properties of wood. Each spoon is completely unique which makes them great presents. This course will help beginners get started, and those wanting to progress their technique further to try out more advanced designs. Suitable for: adults, beginners, and improvers. - Considerations: outdoors based. - What to wear: outdoor/wet weather gear. - What to bring: notebook and pen for taking notes, any carving tools you may have (tools will be provided). - For sale: some spoon carving tools will be available to buy on the day to take home. - Refreshments: tea, coffee and biscuits will be available throughout the day. We also have a fantastic on-site café, Embers, run by local chef 'Shropshire Lad'.

What's included in the price?

Your course fee includes tuition, tools and equipment, materials, and refreshments throughout the day. All information about accommodation is available through Shropshire tourism websites. You may be able to book online with some hotels. We also have basic on-site accommodation. Limited camping and space for camper vans are also available to course participants, available only on request. With more than 30 years experience of delivering courses and training, Small Woods courses have gained a reputation for high quality teaching and professionalism. Most courses take place at the well-equipped Green Wood Centre in Coalbrookdale, Telford. We have a range of indoor and outdoor teaching areas that provide a range of versatile spaces for our diverse range of courses. We work in partnership with approved external providers to deliver courses across the UK. We expect all courses to meet the high standards that have been established over many years and to use only experienced professionals and woodland practitioners as tutors. Small Woods strives to ensure the best quality learning experience by keeping course numbers low. Our courses, unless otherwise specified, are suitable for all levels of experience and ability. We have many years experience in enabling all groups to attend courses and will make every effort to ensure a satisfying experience for all.

FAQs

You will need a packed lunch and any other food you require for the day. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be on offer throughout the day.

There is an on-site café, Embers, which serves delicious food and beverages and a supermarket approx. 5 minutes walk away.

Please note that Embers is closed on Mondays and provide a Sunday lunch menu to pre booked reservations only.

The Green Wood Centre is 10 minutes from Junctions 4 and 6 of the M54, with its connections to the M6 and M5.

There are frequent trains to Telford from Birmingham and Wales / Cheshire; we are approximately 15 minutes by taxi from Telford Central.

The Green Wood Centre is based in Coalbrookdale, just a short way from historic Ironbridge, and provides an innovative headquarters for Small Woods, set in the woods of the Ironbridge Gorge.
